Lightbulb Timing update: M235i / 2 Series revealed next month. World debut Detroit Show in Jan.

We've been reading some confusion in the threads as to the reveal timeline for the M235i / 2 series. To clear that up, it's as follows:
  • Online reveal will come next month (October 2013).
  • Production begins in November 2013.
  • World debut takes place at the Detroit NAIAS show in January 2014.
So stay tuned here, as next month begins the birth of the 2 series.

Exactly what will be revealed?
2er Coupe only or Coupe and Cabrio?
Anyone know production or intro dates of the 2er ragtop?

If production starts November...but the debut is is in January 2014 - something seems off.

^^^Wouldn't the dealerships already have them in stock by mid/late-December?

Does the M235i have electric steering as well? I thought it did...

Not that odd and not without precedent.

The 4 Series began production last month, but will be making its auto show debut at Frankfurt this month (next week).

I'm just surprised they are going to premiere the M235i next to the M3 and M4 side by side.

Unless they want to make it seem like the M235i will be a better purchase for those that can't afford an M4, then that would make sense.

As It probably have an electric radio and electric light.... I'm talking about ELECTRIC PROPULSION ENGINE. I'm just tired of the recent I3, I8 things need something that is back to the root.

Interested in this as well. It seems like it's been an awful long time since those spy shots of the red M235 have come out! We need more details!

my opinion is that the 2-series is not coming to the US as a 2014 model year, but later in 2014 as a 2015. does anyone here have OFFICIAL confirmation this is incorrect?

Production starts in November and will end in June '14. So it will be a limited first year run. They will be 2014 models.

Dealers will be expecting them to come in late December/January

If you are interested in a 2 series, I would suggest to put a deposit down to secure your allocation at your dealership.

nah, i'm really happy with my 135is order! I've always been in love with the E82. i am sort of fascinated by the 2er timeline though.....thanks for the info---is that prediction or official? Also are those production runs for euro cars or US cars?

Nice! Have fun with the 135is!

As far as info, I would take it as semi-official as my buddy is my CA and confirmed these dates and already confirmed my allocation as he saw it on the dealers inventory last month

oh nice. my dealer, when i was ordering the 1er, told me that the 1er is going to be 'rebadged' as a 2-series for the 2014 US market.....a very weird turn of events if that were to happen. I had posted about it in the 1er forum as well, at which point pretty much EVERYONE told me that was probably incorrect. They also saw the 2er listed in the order inventory---but told me that it was still an E82-----which was a VERY puzzling statement. lol

Well your dealer is partially correct. The F22 2 series is replacing the e82 1 series.

It won't simply be a "re-badge" so to speak. With it being wider, longer and apparently lighter than the current e82, it should be a couple notches up from the current line. Especially the M235i

This also seems a** backwards to me as well. Like an afterthought.

I personally feel they re-scheduled the release because of not only the i3 and i8, but also because of the M4.

I just think they didn't want the M235i to take that spotlight.
