Stage 1 Dinan tune ?

Anyone get a stage 1 Dinan tune on their M235 yet?

Apparently it increases hp to 364 hp and torque to 409 lb-ft !!

The parts manager at the BMW where I'll be getting my 15 M235 (hopefully next couple of weeks) emailed me and said they have one arriving in stock to see if I'm interested in it.

It's not cheap but you retain full warranty and it's done at the dealership.

$2k for those power gains and keeping your warranty is not bad...at all.

Still a lot more expensive than jb4....I think I will get the Dinan tune after my first 1,200 miles. I don't need any additional temptations. I am already going from a 128i to a M235i.

As far as i know using Dinan does not retain warranty, but instead Dinan will offer the same warranty as BMW
You probably want to double check that because their warranty might require to use Dinan only products, so if you add an intake in the future it has to be only Dinan,etc...

Wait... $2G for extra 42hp and 76tq?? Almost too good to be true.

There has been a thread going on for some time about the Dinan tune in the Tuning section including a review by a user who just got it put on (and a couple of other installs planned very soon). Any info you need will be in that thread as it is still alive and been going on for some time:

Mike is correct. Dinan matches BMW warranty. Dinan does void BMWs warranty on the replaced parts.

Having Dinan Stage 1 installed tomorrow. Be interesting to feel the difference from the JB4 currently installed.

Since I know you had a baseline early on, do you plan on doing a dyno after your Dinan install?

Really nothing bad or against the JB4 from my experience thus far. I've bought the JB4 as a stop gap measure until Dinan released the software upgrade (you can find my early post when I installed the JB4 stating that upfront). I have used Dinan software upgrade in my previous BMW E92 and loved the performance and fact I could take my car in for service without worries about it being ding for having a performance upgrade on it.

My intention is to go with Stage 2 when released and Dinan allows me to upgrade with minimal cost for the upgrade. Having lived with the JB4 for nearly 4 months it will be very interesting to see if I notice the difference in torque which is my favorite reason for having a turbo powered car. Getting another dyno run would be interesting, but going back to the same shop and paying another $100 plus new rear jack mount inserts (they have to break them to remove them) again is a pain. Plus the shop I used had a lot of white whatever particles in the air that got sucked up into my ventilation system that took over 2 months of constant cleaning to finally get rid of. This experience will be strictly seat-of-pants measuring.

I will also be selling my JB4 in anticipation of the Dinan Stage 2 tune. Very happy with the JB4 (see sig for #'s) but I want the finesse of the Dinan unit even if it comes at a price.

Interested in hearing your feedback once you have a chance to drive it. Please keep us informed.

By the way, that thread in the technical section is absolutely hilarious. I can't believe I read through all 17 pages !! It sounds more like a Honda Civic tuning thread, lol !

Figures, raining all morning here. Should be dry by the time the installation is finished. Will try and allow the dealer for me to take pictures during the installation. Will post up here and my driving impressions.

Just removed the JB4 earlier this morning. The car feels weak now .

Yesterday was my only day available for the install so I was not able to get it done. I have been rescheduled for next Tuesday. On the bright side, I have decided to do another Dyno run at the same shop as before after the installation. Will post the before and after results for everyone to see.
