Downpipe Options

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to order a catless DP for my M235i very soon. I've seen alot about the ER one for the f30 but I was wondering what other choice there was out there?other companies or anything like that? I know Meisterschaft has one but it's crazy expensive so I'm avoiding that.

The downpipe from ER is of great quality. I have one, no rattles, no exhaust leak perfect fitment. For $300 its well worth the money, inexpensive downpipe to say the least. I am used to $800 DP's...

Ok, I need to ask a few noob (borderline dumb) questions. What exactly does a catless downpipe do? Is it just making the exhaust sound louder? More HPs? Do you need the M-Perf Exhaust first? Can this void your warranty? Is this an issue for a lease? Thanks!

Here are the answers for your questions.

Catless downpipe gives you less restriction on the exhaust flow, which in result gives your more hp.

It does make the exhaust sound louder if you have an exhaust upgrade. Otherwise, like in my case, F10 528i with ER downpipe and stock exhaust, it didn't change the exhaust sound.
Of course you don't get as much hp gain compares to downpipe with cat-back exhaust system. Which this will also explains whether you need the MPE first.

If you are worry about warranty and issue on the lease, I would suggest you to keep the car stock.

I have BMS JB4, coilover, catless downpipe on my F10 and BMS JB4, Brembo, lowering spring on my F15. I always bring my car in for a service with those attached.

Oh, on the side note. Not all mods are street legal.

Opps.
http://n54tuning.com/index.php?_a=vi...&productId=128

He had a group buy and I think we paid like $400 each shipped.

Still, even at $450 it's a steal...

Could the CEL attributed to a removed cat be disabled using the JB4?

Don't know for a fact on this but I didn't this with my 135 for a while with no problems. The jb4 allows you to auto clear tuner codes which takes care of this. I would imagine that this would do that.

You can disable it with the JB4, however it needs to be the "stage 2" JB4, not the "stage 1".

Awesome!!.. Is that something that is done by default or do I have to get special tuning done? And by whom?

What is the difference between the Stage 2 JB4 and a configuration using the EWG harness for finer control? Is that something to tune for or does the Jb4 just know to take advantage of it?

The auto-clear is done by default and I believe it explains it on the JB4 website.

EWG harness gives more control over higher boost levels because its required to manipulate the boost when its 4+ psi above stock. The JB4 will take advantage of it automatically once you connect it and set it up within the program.

So, real noob moment here, is there a big price difference for the group buy or should I just buy solo if I am located in Europe?

Because 40 dlls JUST buys us a dinner, or JUST extra miles of gas in our 235, or JUST a good really nice tip to a waiter(ress) that had a bad day, or maybe just 40 extra dlls to a charitable organization of our choice.
