F23 I just bought came with a Dinan Elite V2

Sup yall, so I just picked up an F23 M240i CV (2018).

Car had a Dinan Elite V2 tune on it but the dealer removed it in plans to CPO the car. Regardless its out of that now and I just acquired it from one of the technicians who was working on it and told me like owner beware on the risks involved.

I'm seeing different figures for power measures and nonetheless no instructions on how to install it accurately. I find other part numbers and not the exact one. For reference sake the part number is D443-0076. Product ID is KDXSBV. Description Elite V2 ECU: B58

My assessment is that the risk associated with Dinan tunes is very low.

At the bottom is the power chart Dinan had up on its site when they were still selling the Elite V2 for the B58 unit.

I have the installation instructions and can email them to you (its a PDF) if you post an email address. Or, if you'd rather, PM it to me after you've accumulated enough posts for the site to allow you to PM (10?).

Note that the install PDF I have is for unit D440-0122 and says it applies to these models:

Given the difference in part numbers, you might try contacting Dinan to see if they can send you instructions for your part number or if there's any difference in the instructions between the two part numbers.

I saw that instruction set and I wasn't sure if it still applies although my hunch says yes since it includes the applicable model and year and engine in question. Do you have that in your car?

EDIT: I did contact them, awaiting their reply. May give them a call.

EDIT 2: Called Dinan and the D440-122 part is the same one. Would anyone know if there's any videos on install?

Yes, I have that unit installed.

No idea; I don't see one on youtube, but maybe it's in there somewhere.

What about taking it back to the dealer, or to the nearest BMW dealer that sells Dinan parts.

I had some looking around, seems easy enough. One of techs at my dealer (I work at a BMW store), says he'll do it for $200.

What does CV stand for? Just curious, having never seen it applied to this model before.
$200 seems like a very fair price for the install.

Yeah so I use codename CV for convertibles in my neck of the woods at a dealer years ago and it kinda stuck when we stock cars in that are convrtibles.

I don't think a dealer would take the risk to install used parts on a client's car. The tech the OP is talking about will not do it as an employee of the dealer and will not take personal liability if something goes wrong.

This seems a big risk and furthermore if the car has been purchased with an extended warranty.

Well I work at said dealer the car was traded in to, plus I bought from them as a house deal. The tech yeah, he'd do it as a side to side thing but not with an RO and official writings through dealer service logs. No warranty was available and even which for the cost of them at a 4 year old car with 36k miles, it would be several thousands and I plan on driving the car respectively with a little fun here and there.

Update: I got it installed myself. Took about 30 minutes and half of that was waiting for the systems to shut down to properly disconnect battery. I'm not usually a tinkering kinda person, always been nervous to do so. But I'm glad it went down alright. Pops are a little different at times, some more smaller overrun burbles and an occasional big pop when slowing down. Acceleration has a little more pickup that's definitely noticeable. All in all, good work Dinan haha.

That's how long it took to install mine at my independent's. It cost me all of $50.

I too found the ~8% increase in performance to be noticeable while not being at all dramatic. It was exactly what I wanted - just a little more giddy-up!

I didn't notice any change after installing Dinan's CAI, but at around a 3% measured increase in power, I didn't expect it to on the street. At the track, the V2 Elite gave me 4 mph more on the longest straight. I'd guess the CAI might add 0.5-1.0 mph there.

Correct on all of those, car had a Dinan intake (I don't know if I had mentioned that earlier) I don't notice too much difference with it but I expected some more turbo whooshes and whistles. Is there an intake that does that really well for these cars?

I don't know which ones, but some members have reported that their aftermarket CAIs do that.
