Hoping to keep the EV vs ICE discussion out of this thread, but any Rivian owners in the crowd? I have a reservation for a R1T for late 2023 and curious about others experiences.

I dont have one however I ended up chatting to a dude at a EV charging station while he charged his and he let me sit in it. Overall impressions where really good, especially considering this is a first go from Rivian.

In hindsight, I really wish we preordered the R1S before the price hike. If I had the opportunity to do it again, I'd go for it.

Can't find the thread, but there is one Rivian owner on here who went from an X5 I believe and made a thread on it.

IDK, "investing" 100k+ into a company that might be gone tomorrow is inherently risky in the EV space. The production forecasts for 2023 at Rivian are laughable, no way they can survive for much longer at this rate.

At least with ICE you have some degree of control even if the parent company goes under. With an EV? You're pretty much driving a brick around.

I don't see Rivian is going anywhere. They are making a highly desirable product. Even if they go bankrupt, someone will swoop in to keep them going. It will take a number of years for them to boost production, much less become profitable.

I'm seriously considering on taking $20K and buying their stock as a "What the hell?" buy. The stock has held steady in the $35 range for quite a while. I might loose my ass or it might go up to $100+/share in 5 years.

They are fine, as of Q4 earnings call they have $14bill cash on hand. They have had some heavy investors.

Agree, I think Rivian will have success. They have two products in very strong markets unlike Lucid. Despite not even knowing where my local Rivian store/delivery center is, the amount of R1T trucks I've seen in Baltimore in the last few months is crazy considering I don't think we are a large EV market outside of Tesla, they are seriously everywhere, especially in my suburb.

They also have Amazon to help support them. Just saw this in the city, I think they'll be fine.

I really hope that both Rivian and Lucid are successful since their vehicles are pretty darn impressive. I fear a recession (as well as their internal growing pains) will doom one or both though

I do not own one, no plans to get one (yet, while E70 still operational).

R1S in person looks very nice - elegant SUV body, without questionable EV industry design trend.

Most recently saw one towing decent size boat over sierra pass.

I have an RS1 on order, placed before the price hike. I have a Tesla S Plaid and really fell in love with EVs. My wife wanted the Rivian. Sat in one over the summer and wow, super nice and I hear little to no complaint compared to Tesla even 10 years in.

I see approximately 10-20 Rivian trucks a week. They’re somewhat getting popular in SoCal. Risky..yes, but I would bet on them over any Ford or GM crap vehicles.

A coworker got an R1T. I was pretty impressed overall. So far so good other than a few minor software type glitches. Interior was much nicer than any Tesla I have seen.

I have a R1S on order as well. I've seen several R1Ts around town. I saw my first R1S on the road a few weeks ago. Its a good looking full size SUV.

I've been an R1S order holder for 1.5 years now and just recently spotted my first one -- a Launch Edition while visiting Orange County. It was probably a company vehicle from the Irvine HQ. And it was even better in person than all the pics and videos!

Any of you guys on Rivianforums.com?

Best forum community for the R1 vehicles.

Current auction on BAT. It’ll be interesting to see the winning bid.

That color might hold it back a little. They have been going for around $90k-$95k.

They used early production Rivian EV pickups in the "Long way up" program on Apple TV.

A fun program if you like that sort of thing.
