Recent Purchase 2017 M240i
Hey all,
I recently purchased an M240i from a local friend. As far as I knew the only changes were some cosmetics (carbon side mirror covers, reflector covers, start/stop button) and a BMS intake. However, he just mentioned he also had the car tuned with a Eurocharged stage 2 tune. I contacted Jerry at Eurocharged and he informed me that the vehicle was tuned conservatively with around 60HP/50TRQ. My question is this: Should I trust this tune or just go the typical route with an upgraded high flow catted downpipe + BM3 stage 1/2 93? I was told long ago to never trust a car you didn't tune yourself or witness being modified. Was wondering what experiences you guys have had with Eurocharged tunes on similar vehicles. Thank you! |

I havent heard of anyone in the groups who runs that shop's tune, if that says anything to influence your decision.
I wouldnt want support/questions limited to one guy either. |

Thank you that makes sense. New to BMWs so wasn’t sure if it would be safe to just tune with BM3 and xHP or if I’ll need to tune to stock first. I agree with your logic.

It is a Stage 2 tune without a downpipe? Why would anyone do this and claim it was conservative (as Stage 2 without DP is not recommended aka not conservative).

Go with the tune and setup that you want to do. I wouldn't like/trust a previous tune unless I was forced to keep it (had no money, wife wouldn't let me, etc) and I could see clean logs showing solid performance and no safety issues. Upgraded DP and either of the most common flashtunes BM3 or MHD are the way to go in my opinion.

Right... my understanding is just the air intake which didn’t make sense to me either. I don’t have the means to jack the car and verify stock DP. Anyone know of another way to be sure? Otherwise I’ll have to run down to a shop. Sounds like I’ll just grab a catted DP (if still stock) then flash with BM3 stage 1/2 93. I just worry I won’t have a stock tune back up at that point.

Eurocharged isn;t bad for their tunes at all pretty good , if you want something you can adjust yourself and turn off and on, switch to a flash tune for MHD or bm3 map

Stage 2 to different tuning places means different things - their stg 2 may not necessitate a downpipe, considering it is only 60HP.
