I'm quite unfamiliar with brakes - is it possible to get the drilled/slotted appearance by only changing that portion of the brakes?

I already have the M Sport brakes - so it would be possible to switch only the rotors and keep the original M Sport calipers (assuming you can purchase the rotors alone)?

I think so... but you might want to double check with the dealer or something

Guys

MPBBK use 370mm dia slotted and dimpled front rotors.

Stock front rotors are 340mm.

BMW do offer 340mm fr and 345mm rear slotted / dimple rotors as upgrade to suit existing blue msport calipers

I guess it's easy to tell floating calipers (in regular brakes) from fixed/4 piston ones (M-Performance), and not just by their color (or the size of the rotors)?

This is somewhat common on non-sliding caliper designs as the front calipers are beefier compared to the smaller rear calipers. They do this to fit inside the wheels. they make up for the smaller diameter in the front by adding more friction surface area to the pads/rotors. The use of larger rear rotors can also slightly improve brake bias, adding more to the rear. Stock systems are generally overly front biased for safety.

Not really worth it unless you plan on tracking the car. If you're brakes are fading on the street you're doing something wrong.

M Brakes

The feel of the M brakes is much better than standard.
The pedal is firmer and when you press they bring the car down in an instant.
There is just no comparison,
Plus those big bad boy rotors are quite impressive!

This is what I'll be doing very soon. Challenge break lines and a full system flush!

Does it really do something to the brake feeling?

I love everything about my M235i beside the brake pedal feeling. To me, you have to press to far to get a feeling of stopping power. I'm even wondering if there is not even some air in my brake lines.

They're all like that, is a smoother/softer feel at the pedal. BMW has gotten soft, its still great but they have made everything to fit everyone

Braided hoses, better brake fluid and proper flush will improve brake feel.

What is the OEM Brake Fluid? Is it not DOT 4?

I love my M-Sport Brakes! (Looks and Feel)

They are covered under the warranty. I've had several sets replaced so far on my M235i - 2 front sets and one rear set - all covered at the dealer.

Is this discussion about the blue m-sport calipers that come standard on M235i's?

I didn't know a factory bbk upgrade was available?

BMW has offered an upgraded brake kit for quite some time, but the cost versus benefit from the brakes included on the M235i is widely viewed as a waste. Better off getting better pads in the stock brakes than investing the $2.4k into the M brake kit.
