- $25 Harbor Freight scissor jack that fits perfectly into the OEM plastic jack points. The jack is velcroed to the floor.
- In the battery area: Expandable lug wrench and small bag of tools including common E-torx and metric sockets, 8" ratchet and 3" extension, pick tool, plastic trim tool, knife, screw driver with a number of bits in the handle, duct tape, electrical tape, two hose/worm clamps, tow hook, tire puncture kit, heavy duty nitrile gloves, stock air compressor, and tire slime.

Craftsman 1/2" ratchet with short extension and a 6 point 17mm socket. To complement those, a 15" metal pipe to add leverage. The pipe is wrapped in leftover headliner material from my old E46. Also, a spray bottle with homemade window cleaner, a squeegee and a roll of paper towels.
Homemade window cleaner: 60% water 20% distilled white vinegar 20% alcohol (70% alcohol is fine) 8 to 10 drops of Dawn in a 2l bottle containing the above. This stuff never streaks! |

A bag with basic tools - socket set, adjustable wrenches, Visegrip, multi-bit screwdriver, tire pressure stick, knife - follows me from car to bike to plane. Once a year or so I'm really glad to have it.
Compact spare plus a small toolbox with scissor jack, extendable ratchet wrench, torque wrench, tire pump and puncture repair kit. Originally the plan was to put this in the car only when I expected to be out of cell service (any time I went for a twisty road drive) but I got used to having it and now it stays in the trunk permanently. I borrow the wife's SUV when I need to carry something big, and in two years there have been zero instances when removing the spare would mean I could use the car instead of borrowing the SUV.

IIRC, I first saw that formula in the SF Chronicle back in the 80s. I found it to be a huge improvement over Windex.
