I have the Gen 2 TU pump in my garage right now awaiting install. It's a no-brainer mod when tuning these cars and especially if you plan to use ethanol.
Good to know! I'll be putting in an AA catted downpipe this month but will run stock tune probably until next spring. Then I'll probably have to look into a HPFP, plugs, and a tune. I'm extremely weary of running OTS tunes so will probably try and skip that.

Yeah you have mentioned before about not liking the idea of using OTS tunes. I've had good luck with them but agree that a custom tune would be more effective.

The new TU pump wasn't on the mods list until I started having rail pressure drops when using using an ethanol blend. Then seeing you can get a new one for $375 shipped it was a no brainer. I'm sure by next spring you could probably get them for cheaper than that, or snag a used one from someone on B58 enthusiasts FB group selling one.

Wow! That's not nearly as bad as I thought they'd be. I might have to bite on that. And I agree. I wouldn't mess around when it comes to fueling. Knock/lean conditions in a turbo car are not good times haha

Yep even with the fail safe stuff in place with tunes (timing corrections, throttle closure, cutting boost) best to be safer with the correct fuel pressure.

I bought from Merlin Diesel who is a company in Europe to get that $375 price. The typical beemer parts places domestically (ECS, Extreme Power House) are more like $450 to $500.

Ahh gotchya. That's more in line with what I thought they'd be (~$500). Still nice to have that option if you don't plan on upgrading the turbo anytime soon/at all. I like to tell myself I won't but we'll see how that goes. I told myself I wasn't even going to think about getting the downpipe until next summer and here we are with it en route lol

There you go. It is an addiction and it just keeps compounding upon itself. TU pump went in today. Took about 90 minutes as I had to make a trip to the store for tools. It was an easy install, only surprise was that the first engine start up it took a few cranks to fire up. Now I need to get out and drive the thing and adjust the tune.

Maybe the fuel pumps are different across B58s? I know there's the updated one but do all 2018 B58 share the same pump or does a 240 have a different one than a 440 for instance.
I'm not planning to ever use any ethanol, so the OTS MHD tunes are enough for me. My standard map is stage 2, 91 octane but I'll do stage 2+, 95 octane but with 100 octane in the tank but that's it (only up to 91 oct available here, with the next tier being 100).

The TU HPFP is just to remove the bottleneck in fueling since I had already replaced everything prior to that, and it still misfired. Logs seem fine now.

As I recall, the pre-LCI M240i, F30 340, F32/33 440i, etc. all have the original/1st-gen HPFP which has a lower flow rate ceiling.

The LCI M240i, M340i, M440i, X3M40i, etc. are all the 2nd-gen B58s and have the TU HPFP on top of a higher baseline HP.

It could be just the 91 map is too demanding..? for the octane you get, i've been using MHD maps 94 only for the last 6 months, Stage 2 and stage 2+ never really had misfire issues, that was as well with a stock HPFP and a dorch stage 2, 2017 m240i, Try how the 95 map feels with 100, might solve the issue

That could be it. I recall hearing that Arizona, California, and Nevada's gas' quality is worse than other states, so this could be a cause.

At almost 70k miles now; ever since I had the TU HPFP on, no more misfiring with any octane, any map. No codes either.

That doesn't sound right. As far as I know my 2018 LCI m240i still have 1st gen hpfp as confirmed by realoem catalogue.

I believe we don't get the TU hpfp untill at least the 2021 versions.

Oops, you're right. I meant new generation of the 2-series*** instead of LCI.

All F22 B58s LCI or not have the 1st gen HPFP. The G42 B58 is the 2nd gen with higher output and TU HPFP.
