My M235i Dinan M Performance Build Thread

***UPDATES IN POSTS 5, 6, 8, 13, 16, 23, 24, 25***

Hi guys. I just bought a 2016 M235i 6spd since my F30 340i lease is ending soon. I love these 6 cylinder turbo BMWs, this is my 4th! (I have also had an N54 and N55).

I got lucky and found one with lots of pricey but warranty-friendly parts already on it , including:
- Dinan CF Intake
- Dinan Exhaust
- Wagner Evo 2 Competition Intercooler
- M Performance LSD
- M Performance Springs
- M Performance CF Interior Trim
- M Performance Front Splitters
- M Performance CF Front Lip Spoiler
- M Performance CF Rear Trunk Spoiler
- M Performance Rear Diffuser
- M Performance Shifter
- M Performance Pedals
- Turner Motorsport P3 Vent Gauge

I had started ordering stuff for it before I even went to pick it up this past Saturday In the two days since I got it, I have ordered the following:
- BMS JB4 Tune (installed)
- VRSF 4" Catless Downpipe (installed)
- M Performance Side Skirts (painted! to be installed)
- M Performance Armrest (installed)
- M Performance E-brake (installed)
- UUC Short Shift Kit (to be installed)
- iND Painted Front & Rear Reflectors (installed)
- Clutch Stop (installed)
- LCI LED Taillights (installed)

Also ordered some more stuff since then!
- ER Black Anodized Chargepipe (installed)
- NGK Plugs (installed)
- 35% XPEL tint (installed)
- Apex EC-7 Anthracite Wheels in 19x8.5et35 19x9.5et43 (installed)
- Falken Azenis FK140 225/35/19 255/30/19 Tires (installed)
- Gunmetal Huf TPMS (installed)
- Red Start Button (installed)

Now I just need to save up for my wish list:
- M Performance Steering Wheel (installed)
- Big Boost Stage 3.3 Turbo Kit
- Fuel-IT Port Injection
- Fuel-IT Stage 2 Low Pressure Fuel Pump
- Bootmod3 Flash Tune
- Front and Rear Camera + Android auto retrofit
- Upgraded Clutch
- XDI 35 High Pressure Fuel Pump

I am very happy with the car so far. I always felt my F30 and E92s were missing something. I think the combination of the shorter wheelbase, less weight, the m performance suspension and lsd, really make this F22 a proper driver's BMW even with just the stock tune. With more power it will really be a hoot

Let me know if you have any parts for sale or think I missed anything! I hope to keep this updated as parts come in but you can also follow me on Instagram @iBurnTires

Check with Dallas Custom instead of OEM steering wheel, he will redo yours in whatever you want for $500 and it will retain heat if you have it. His work is amazing.

I'd go with a flash tune instead of JB4. You have so much going on with the car the flash tune is going to let you dial in the car way better than the jb4 will. If they make BM3 or MHD for you car I'd consider that instead.

Car sounds like it's going to rip!

Just a quick update. Got the jb4, downpipe, reflectors, ebrake, and clutch stop installed. I ordered the wrong color for the rear relectors so I will have to exchange those -_- I have had catless BMWs before but with the Dinan exhaust, this thing is LOUD! Almost too loud The car felt a little underwhelming with just the JB4 (on stage 2 map) compared to my FBO F30 B58 but once I added the downpipe it really opened it up. I am planning to try some E30 soon on Map 5 and see how that feels. One thing to note is the JB4 and P3 gauge cant be connected to the OBDII port at the same time! I will probably just get the analog kit for the P3 so I can atleast read boost pressure by tapping the vacuum line.

I also updated the first post with some new items I picked up during the labor day sales. I just ordered the M Performance Armrest and M Performance Side Skirts (which I will paint BSM). Now I just need the steering wheel to complete my interior! I would love to add the Performance seats too but I really can't justify the pricetag.

Tomorrow I will be installing my LCI tailights that came in. I will be coding them using E-Sys and will code a few other comfort options. The UUC should be here Tuesday but will wanna wait to use a lift for that one. Enjoy the pics!

LCI tailights have been installed with no issues! Definitely mask the tailight area it saved me from scratching the bumper. I followed a DIY I found on here and coded them using E-Sys. I will take better pics when it stops raining.

Also coded a few other things while I was in there...Disabled seat belt alarms, M Performance logo, digital speed on DIC, auto fold mirrors/ close windows via FOB and comfort access, enabled DVD player at any speed, rear DRL, and show tire pressures on iDrive.

The Ultimate Clutch Pedal (UCP) should be high on your list if you want to improve the shift experience with the 6MT. https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1558148

Interesting. Are you affiliated with them? The clutch stop made a significant difference but I like the fact that its adjustable. I also just got my UUC Evo 3 Short Shifter today! I will try to install it this coming weekend.

I'm not affiliated with them.

The UUC makes a monumental difference compared to the clutch stop. The UUC will put the clutch pedal resting position to just below the brake pedal rather than over 1/2" above the brake pedal. Due to the revised pedal angle of the UUC pedal, the clutch catches much lower to the floor. The pedal is also adjustable for firmness. You can also easily experiment with the clutch pedal helper springs to change firmness even more. In stock form, the clutch uses a dual spring setup, one large soft spring and small stiff spring inside the large spring. I've tried the setup without the large spring, without the small spring, no springs at all, and with a softer large spring I had from another project. I prefer the setup with just the soft spring I provided.

I thought about a short shifter, but my experience with short shifters in other cars hasn't been good. They all created too much notchiness and increase NVH since most of them run solid or high durometer bushings. In a race car, I could accept it. In a street car, it was annoying. I find the M Performance shift knob to add just the right amount of feel and directness.

Next up for me is removal of the clutch delay valve (CDV) which is located inside the clutch slave cylinder. That damn thing makes driving these cars smoothly during non-race situations a total pain. It's my biggest compliant with my car.

Another update. Got my iND painted rear reflectors and M Performance armrest installed, also got 35% xpel tint.

Haven't had a chance to install the uuc or ngk spark plugs yet, also need to find a body shop to get my sideskirts painted.

On the way home from the tint shop on Saturday I blew my charge pipe I was originally gonna go with the BMS or VRSF one but they are back ordered so I got the black anodized ER from Mike@N54Tuning.com for a great price since I am a returning customer.

Right now the chargepipe the first thing I on my to do list for next weekend so I can get the car back on the road. I will try to do the spark plugs too if time allows. Good thing I still got my f30 another few weeks before I return the lease

Holy crap, that side view shot in your first post makes the front clearance look really, really low with the splitter and lip. I am looking at a CPO with the lip, but that looks beyond unusable on the rough roads around my neck of the woods. Looks like it's 2 inches off the ground!

Keep in mind the M Performance suspension is a very mild drop. It's definitely low but not super low like my E92 was on h&r cup suspension. I do have to reverse into my garage and take steep approaches at an angle but haven't scraped it once so far.

Haven't updated in a couple weeks. Some fun news! I talked to the original owner of the car (2nd owner gave me his number) and learned a few things! Apparently it's not a dinan intercooler but a wagner evo 2 competition fmic which actually flows better and didn't require trimming. Also found out it's I have the M Performance springs but not the shocks. The nice surprise was the car has been treated with cilajet so water still beads right off years later!

I didn't have a chance to do too much to the M235i since I'm getting the 340i ready for lease return, but installed some NGK plugs gapped to 0.20, and installed the ER chargepipe after my stock cp blew! Also put on some 15mm turner spacers. The spacers make the stance so much better but ultimately I decided I need 19s, so those have already been sold only a day later

So I finally pulled the trigger and just ordered some 19s! I am pretty sure I am going to be the first F22 to run 19" Apex wheels! I ordered the EC-7s in Anthracite in 19x8.5et35 19x9.5et43 and got some falken fk510 tires in 225/35/19 and 255/30/19. The tires have great reviews for less than half the price of pilot sports so figured I give them a try. Apex did not recommend this wheel fitment but from what I have researched this should work! I can't wait to get them but they are back ordered until early October So hope to have them on in 2 weeks! Will also drop my side skirts this week for paint and hopefully get around to the uuc in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned... bigger plans coming for phase 3!!

BTW I am also I'm selling some B58 parts off my 340i, so if anyone with a M240i is looking, pm me!

Just a heads up you posted two different wheels. The EC7 do not have the i-beam construction that's shown in the second photo. That is likely the SM10 if memory serves.

No problem, just didn't want an expensive surprise and potential disappointment for you. I've got EC7 on my F23 it's one of the best options out there without going crazy $$$$.
