How are these wheels holding up after months of usage? I'm considering them to replace the OEM 18 in wheels. Any fitment, vibration, etc issues?

Absolutely no issues. Not a scratch, ding, etc. The finish is flawless after 8 months and 8k miles. The wheels have taken some very hard pothole hits too. I just took mine off today to swap on my winter wheels and tires. The inside of the rim was still glossy after I cleaned them up for storage. The finish is really thick.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply! I'm slightly hesitant to get these since I can't find much info on Alutec anywhere. My worry is the wheels having vibration/ride quality degradation compared to the OEM wheels.

Look at some of their aftermaket wheels, they are variations of the OEM designs for Audi and BMW. Anyways, thanks to XutvJet and Quantumn for turning me to these wheels. Short of BBS CH-R or CI-R, I couldn't find one that looked "right" until now. I test fitted three other wheels designs (there is a TR distribution center in my city) and these finally made me happy. I had TR mount these with MPSS and have driven on them for three weeks now. The MPSS were a bit squirly at the beginning but getting better with break in miles. I appreciated TireRack using black wheel weights to hide in the black wheel barrel. There is zero negative effect IME using these wheels. I've used various aftermarket wheels on last 20 years and these Alutec Drive and ASA AR1 are the closest wheels I've ever come across to being built like OEM spec in terms of weight, low pressure casting, certification, fitment, and finish. Zero vibrations and that clear coat finish is strong (as XutvJet alluded to)! The wheels are hubcentric to BMW 72.56mm hubs without need of centering rings. They weigh ~23.5lbs nearly same as factory 24lbs. Unless you load them with stiffer and heavier tires, they're should be no degradation to ride quality. You can't get any better than these if you were looking for something OEM+. |

I just swapped on my stock 18" wheels and I'm a sad panda. The Alutecs look so much better, have a much better stance due to the 10mm reduction in offset, and visually look like 19s. The OEM 18s look a good deal smaller. |

I wish the clear coat over the machined spokes was slightly tinted a shade or two. I find that these wheels actually look better and have more depth being a little dirty.

I should note that I changed both front and rear pads to ceramic pads to reduce the ungodly amount of dust. The new pads have reduced the dust by ~70% with no perceivable loss in stopping power. |

What are the specs on this setup, wheel size, offset, tire size, etc? I am looking for these on my M240i and this looks like an ideal setup for me.

All the specs are provided in the first post. The wheels are hubcentric as well so no need for hubcentric rings.

I've had mine for 11 months and 6,000 miles and concur with everything XutvJet said. I love these wheels.

1) Overall tire width on the 235/40 is about 1/4"+ greater than the 245/35. Tread width wise, the MPSS 245/35 tires are blockier and have a fractionally wider contact patch. 2) The 235/40 is right around 1/4" taller overall than the 245/35. Keep in mind the 235/40 tires have about 15K miles thus are fractionally shorter than new. 3) The 235/40 tires have about 1/2" more tread width than the 225/40 and are nearly 3/4" wider overall. This is great for those wanting to reduce understeer. 4) The 235/40 is about 1/8" taller than the 225/40. Word of caution: When I experimented with the Alutec 18X8 245/35 tires in the front, the tires cleared the shock housing by about 8mm and when I did a test drive, nothing rubbed. Given that the 235/40R18 MPSS tires are fractionally wider overall than the 245/35, the tires will sit closer to the shock housing (above 1/8" closer). It should be fine, but I just want it known than I haven't verified the fitment. Finally, I know for a fact that people have and are running 235/40R18 tires on 18X8 and 18X8.5 rims and don't have clearance issues. I'd suggest searching the forums to see what you can find. |

I love the look of these rims so much that I think I will down to 245/35 R18. A slightly less staggered? LOL
Do you think there will be any effect on traction going from 255 down to 245 /35? I really appreciate you posting these, I wouldn't have known otherwise. These look exactly like the ones on my buddy M3 F80. these are dream! |

Man, I've been looking for a 245 square setup FOREVER. I'm considering OZ Leggera HLT's 18x8 ET45 from Tire Rack and wrapping them in the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 245/35/18. No plans on lowering the car. Based on your post the 245/35 on the 18x8s clean up the wheel gap perfectly.
I'm slightly worried at ET45, I'd be closer to the strut than you were at ET43. How much clearance did you have on the fender side? Trying to decide if I need spacers here to have some comfortable clearance / keep it flush to the fenders without poking too much. Thanks in advance! |

I wish my PSS would wear out so I can get a 245 square setup with the PS4s. The front 225s are just too narrow. With the recently added LSD out back, the 245s are doing much better in terms of traction. The PS4s should only be better. For a street driven 2 series with stock power to mild power mods, the 245 square setup with quality summer tires and an LSD should be pretty ideal for most everyone.

I'm currently on the VMR 810s / Michelin Pilot A/S 3+ the car came with when I bought it from previous owner: F: 18x8.5 ET35 - 225/40/18 R: 18x9.5 ET35* - 245/35/18 *Unconfirmed since I haven't taken the rim off the car yet Some might find it pokey, but i think it gives the car an aggressive stance even at stock height since the the rear and front tire / rim line up more with the arches right above the fender rather than the edge of the fender itself (if that makes sense). And yes, I'm going down that path of OEM+. LSD is definitely next on my list. Just to confirm, there was no rub when you mounted the 245s up front? Did you do full lock forward and reverse to test? |

Yes, on the OEM MPSS 245/35R18 tires with the Alutec wheels, I did do full lock test going forward at 10 to 15 mph, in and out of my driveway (forward and back), going up and down my driveways curb and with the suspension full compression (wheels turned and also wheels mostly straight), and driving at normal speeds of up to 35mph with typical turns and bumps. I did not get any rubbing. I also checked the inner fender panel clearance with the wheels at lock and the car at static height. I did not see anything the tires could touch when the wheels were at static lock or where I'd estimate the wheels would go at full upward travel. Keep in mind I did not drive the car aggressively with the 245s up front so I can't confirm there might be a rub issue under extreme driving with the wheels turned. I don't see how it would be possible, but I can't confirm for sure given my limited testing. With that said, I'm not concerned about running the 245s upfront and will be doing so this coming spring for sure.
