LCA upgrade requires thrust arm upgrade too?

Another LCA question incoming lol.

I got quoted $1300 for the LCA upgrade which includes the the LCAs, thrust arms, alignment and labor.

I asked if the thrust arms were needed and was told they need to be done when upgrading the LCA. Can someone confirm that would be correct? I can't find any posts mentioning doing both. Seems most people just do LCA?

This is for a 18 m240i.

I was trying to find pricing for both parts but I'm not quite sure how to look up the part number. Am I looking up the LCA and thrust arm for same year car just the M3 or M4?

I see these are offered from Turner:

https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...m-upgrade-kit/

But still unsure about the thrust arms.

Appreciate any feedback. Just trying to do my due diligence here before buying everything or deciding to go with the shop that quoted the upgrades.

I bought the LCAs and thrust arms from Onlinecarparts.co.uk for just over $400. $900 in labor for install and alignment seems more than excessive.

That was for the genuine M parts? Turner has the LCA only for $400.

They're the Lemforder parts which is an OE parts supplier and uses the same casts as the M parts. They actually have to grind off the M logo for some reason. I don't have the link but If you dig through the LCA and thrust arm thread you'll see people here talking about them. I didn't see any reason to pay more for a part that didn't have the M shaved off.

I'm planning on installing them myself then taking to my alignment shop.

Ok cool. I'll take a look. BMW quoted me about $500 for labor and alignment. The SA said it was ok to bring an aftermarket part they obviously just won't warranty the part.

These were the part numbers:

Thrust arms
38258 01
38259 01
LCAs
38256 01
38257 01

These parts were 20% through Onlinecarparts.co.uk but even with ~ £94 in shipping the total was just over $400. Without the sale I'd imagine you'd still save money.

Make sure to read those threads thoroughly. You'll need spacers for the thrust arms and I'll also be getting new stretch bolts and ball joint combi nuts from FCP.
