Dinan exhaust + mid pipe

Hello was wondering if anyone has the Dinan mid pipe and Dinan exhaust installed? Is it too loud? Does it drone? I can't find a video anywhere.

Wasn't sure if that video had the mid pipe or just the muffler.

I just had the Dinan mid pipe and muffler installed this week. Sounds really great. No drone. It now sounds like a sports car. The mid pipe is a larger diameter than stock. I also have a Dinan Stage 1. It is really responsive and fast. I have a 2017 M240i.

That puts my mind at ease. Any chance of a video?

I got the midpipe and exhaust put in today. I love it! It needs to go back tomorrow because it has a small rattle on cold starts so it will get adjusted. I'll make a video when I get it back.

The only thing I worry about the Dinan midpipe / muffler combo is that it doesn't have the valve and I worry that in the compact neighborhood I live in that it would be nice to be able to start it up in "quiet" mode if needed.

Nope, no quiet mode after doing that swap, but the cold start is only 10 seconds. I have a Catted DP now, which is even louder, also, I am parked in the street, ...... no one complains, not even on the neighborhood App

PS: just pull the trigger, you will not regret it!

If on cold start you slightly advance the throttle and hold it you can do a “quiet” start up without pissing off the neighbors. I have to do it when it’s cold out or I would be run out of the neighborhood.

Thanks for the input! I think I'm torn between the Dinan and going with Remus, which does appear to have a functional valve for
"stealth mode". While you can get an idea from videos, would be great to hear both in person to get a really good feel for how loud they really are.

Definitely. No video does it justice. I'm going to make a video with my Sony a6000 to hopefully capture it better.

Drive it by my place in SF haha. I honestly wouldn't want to go all kid racer but I do think the stock setup is too subdued. The E46 ZHP I'm coming from had a Dinan exhaust and I always appreciated how it sounded. Now when I accelerate onto the Bay Bridge it's so darn quiet I look down and am like, crap I really shouldn't be going 85 past, I had no idea I was going that fast. And I don't think a traffic court judge is gonna use "my car was too quiet" as an excuse. So really, it's a safety feature - installing a better auditory feedback system to avoid excessive speed.

If you want more volume and character, w/o being boy racer obnoxious, then just get the Dinan mid-pipe (or dual resonator delete) and keep the stock muffler. That's what I did and I'm very happy with it.

Same here. Mid-pipe alone really makes a difference. Louder and meaner but not to an obnoxious degree.

I have the dinan mid pipe and the dinan muffler. When in comfort setting not much of a burble. When in sport the sound is louder and I have great burbles.

I have the midpipe on my F23. I wouldn’t want it any louder in a convertible. Sounds great.

meloHYPE: you're the first person I've found that's had it done. Did you have it done at the dealer or by an independent shop? Did they express any concerns or issues in fitting it? Dinan said it wouldnt fit because of unique bracing on the f23....

I had it done at a BMW / Dinan dealership. I had it installed before picking my car up. I asked them to verify with Dinan that it would work, and they said it would. Seems to be just fine--one month in. It is the perfect decibel. Not loud in Comfort, and not annoying in sport. Tons of gurbles.
