Installed Bootmod3 on my 2017 F22 M240i x-Drive
Wow! I’m pretty impressed to say the least. I’m only running the Stage 1 tune 93 octane and the difference is very noticeable. The thing just pulls and pulls...hard! And the exhaust? So much more overrun. On hard pulls it explodes on up shifts. If this is Stage 1 I can’t wait to go Stage 2 with catless Downpipes! Haven’t done the transmission tune yet. Will get around to it soon.
To the guys at Pro Tuning Freaks, good job! Very good product! So much more than just a piggyback and/or bench tune. The Bootmod3 is so versatile, user friendly and customizable. I’ve only had it for 1 day and I can’t believe there’s so much more to explore and discover not to mention be wowed every time I flex the right foot. To all you skeptics and/or still on the fence debating which route to go...go Bootmod3 guys. The only downside of running Bootmod3 now is I have a JB sitting in my glove box. 😳 Keep up the good work guys! W

No issues at all. I mostly have it in Sport. Pulls substantially harder. In Sport+ it’s a huge difference. The exhaust is much louder and burbles much more especially when gearing down or just rolling to a stop and letting the transmission do it’s thing. I’m still on Stage 1. Planning to go hardcore next summer with catless dp’s and meth. My mods are: BMS intake, Dinan lowering springs and bump stops, Superspeed RS03RR wheels (18x8.5, ET35 square setup). Stock tires. That’s about it for now. Looking to sell my JB+ if anyone is interested.

The Dinan springs have a nice subtle drop. Handling is better at high speeds. You don’t get that wallowing feeling in the corners. I’ve been through 2 winters now. No problem at all. Apparently the BMS intake adds a bit of hp to the wheels. If I’m not mistaken BMS quote 10+ hp with just an intake. It also helps the turbos spool quicker. Like they say, more air, more power. 😊

Haven’t done any logging yet. The Stage 1 93 octane tune worked right from the get go.
What kind of trouble are you experiencing? Have you asked the Bootmod3 guys about this? |

Log your cars, Petro 94 isn't very good. Your timing could be complete shit with mild knocking and you'd have no idea. Our gas isn't the same quality as most US states and Europe.

Bro, I don’t want to sound like a dick but #1. It’s just a car. #2. I’m aware of what I was getting into once I start modding. #3. You’re right, I have no idea, neither do you.
The world isn’t perfect my friend. Plus, what’s logging going to do for me now? Don’t you think the tuners exhausted this prior to launching the tune? Maybe, maybe not. I have no problem. |

I have run Shell 91 and Petro 94 many times at Castrol Raceway on a naturally aspirated engine producing 105bhp per litre. Even when running flat out between 5500 and 7800RPM for an hour at a time (unfortunately happy hour is no longer available these days) with IATs between 38 and 45C, I have never had any problem with knock. I have a blinding blue LED right near my shift lights that is connected to a knock sensor system, so it is hard to miss if knock occurs.
With the ethanol in Petro 94 you need a tune that takes into account the need for higher fuel flow rates and also has enough safety margin to pull timing quickly enough when knock is detected. Bottom line, with a highly stressed engine, I’ve never had an issues with fuel quality in Western Canada. |

Curious, if you were new to tuning - what would I do with the logs? I would have no idea how to read them or understand them. Does BM3 have a support team that would look at it?

Post them here, on the bootmod3 facebook group or open a support ticket in the web app. Make sure to get 1-2 3rd (if manual) 4th (auto) gear pulls from 3k to redline.

On a side note - I noticed you also have a MK7 R - is that tuned as well? |

What I’ve found from tuning my Caterham is that it is very difficult to accurately monitor tune and safety limits without a wideband lambda system installed, the tuners will be using one when building the maps, but the problem is that you may be running different parameters from a fuel and environment perspective than they have tested with. I currently use the Innovate 2 system with a Busch wideband sensor. |
