Hi everyone. I have been reading and reading.

It seems to me (working in the software industry) that the NBTevo hardware is more than powerful enough to handle a simple screen render off the iphone. Its just mapping the pixels right off the digital video signal? All computation and functionality occurs on the iphone? That is my understanding.

My question is why doesnt bmw or a 3rd party just release a software patch to allow nbtevo hardware natively support apple car play?

The unit can already receive over the air map updates so it must have a network connection and a data bus already in place for acceptance and processing of data.

It seems so much easier than replacing the entire system or adding on an additional piggy back system to make it work???
