First big run in the M240

Well I've completed my first run in the M240 for Christmas, and have to say what a blast I had.

On the run up, I stuck it in Eco mode to run her in gently and see what MPG I would get, over 200 miles I got around 32 which was a mixture of major and minor roads but no hard driving, just taking it easy.

No complaints, smooth, power when I needed it, great sounds.

On the run back, I used a mixture of Eco and Comfort, and the MPG remained the same, used Sport a few times, which transformed the car into the go cart I remembered testing a while back, but I want to run her in a little more before getting too much into that, and its getting cold out there, so want to get a feel for it before I start to play too much.

The seats are so comfortable, 50x more so than the ones in the M6 which were supposed to be top end jobs, love the back to basics approach..

Options wise.. actually not really missing much... I managed to bump the front spoiler on a curb as I parked, as i was used to the length of the M6, but no damage, and lesson learnt.. so I missed the camera there, but otherwise no need for those.

HiFi, already posted on that, much better than what i had in the M6 with the HK.

Only thing I miss is the office function which I hope to get coded on when I learn how..

LOVE IT

Getting the exhaust done tomorrow, then it will be clean and ill get some decent pictures done.

Great. The trick is to avoid constant droning along at steady RPM.

Exactly

Dont baby it but dont beat on it and keep it under 4k rpm

Slow and smooth on the go pedal and vary speed and rpm's for break in

Basically you want to work the engine but dont thrash it

Of course, demonstrators are exempt from this....

The best road for running in is a twisty mountain section - you are on and off the brakes/throttle a lot.

I think I put my car in EcoPro mode once...by accident. I was like WTF happened to the throttle the looked at the dash and saw it was in EcoPro.

To each his own but I didn't buy my car to drive it around for MPG's. FWIW I've gotten 32 in Comfort mode.

Hey I'm just playing with the modes .. it's useful for a sedate long run in traffic where I don't think to think too much and have people who don't enjoy my enhanced driving .. I call it WifeModePro

@MattUK - If you have it, some of the voice controls can be useful, such as

"Control Display Off" - At night if you jut don't need the display
"Spoken Instructions Off" - When you don't need the SatNav directions any more
"Sport Displays" - Show the Torque and Power dials

Worth spending half an hour trying out various voice commands, as they can be useful at times.

EcoPro - I live in a hilly area and in EcoPro the drivetrain disengages and you coast downhill. When it's the rush hour I use this as it saves a surprising amount of fuel (about 10%-15%) and the Rush Hour traffic is too busy to have any fun.

I use that mode in traffic here and on slow days for the Autobahn. Not burning excess fuel when not needed is ok and keeps money avail for other things when needed. I enjoy having the option of the different modes.
