Leather Care

So I'm a fan of AMMO NYC products. But I wanted to know, whats everyones Go-To when it comes to cleaning & conditioning the leather in you car?

In any modern car, the leather is protected from the factory by what would be comparable to your car's clear coat. All you need to do is a gentle wipedown with an all purpose cleaner and protect with something like an Aerospace 303. Not much to really do to it.

A fairly good article on leather care (just ignore the product recommendations). The leather on our cars is pigmented, embossed, and coated with a flexible polyurethane/acrylate ‘top coat’ specifically designed for automotive leather applications.

I have an oyster leather interior and went for the BMW Leather Care Pack. This worked well in cleaning up some blue from jeans after 8-9 months and I now use it probably every 2-3 months just to keep the leather in good condition. I'm sure there are plenty of good 3rd.-Party cleaning products, but for the price premium, I was happy to go for the BMW kit (fluid, sponges and cloths).

It's largely unnecessary, but I enjoy the smell. I use kenotek leather care. Got it through Detailer's domain.

I've been using Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner with good results. You can also use their Leather Serum as an extra protectant layer.

I've heard this too. I dont know what the previous owner of mine did, but on the driver side left bolster, there is some pretty heavy wear. I wanted to protect it before it actually starts to crack on me.

I've used Blue Magic leather cleaner and conditioner on a few of my cars. Works well, leaves leather nice and clean without an oily feel like some conditioners. Also use it on my leather sofa and love seat we've had for 9 years. They still look new.

I'm using Dodo Lather cleaner and Dodo leather conditioner. It's awesome.
This is 50/50 from my fathers X6 that was cleaned everysingle year before with BMW leather care products. Night and day.

Excellent article. Thanks for posting. I use Lexol leather cleaner for regular maintenance and Sonax leather foam about once or twice a month for a little protection.
