Dark wheels on a Silver 235? Black? Gunmetal? Anthracite?...

Hi,

I like the GS color but i find it more difficult to choose the right wheel color.

What is your thought, experience on dark wheels on a Glacier Silver M235?

Which color looks good/bad?

I don't really like gloss black but matte/satin black looks good IMHO.

What about anthracite/gunmetal or hyperblack?

Please post your pics!!!

Thanks!

Black wheels are so neutral that they won't clash with any color. Most 2-series have the gloss black window trim and grilles to match black wheels as well.

My car is mineral white but I can post pics if you'd like. Just don't want to clutter the thread.

Edit: uploaded a few photos found on google plus user Regardless' car.

Take a look at this thread:

I would go gloss black or shiny silver. I have MG and satin black doesnt look great with all the shiny paint and trim IMO.

Here's a silver pic thread you could get ideas on. BTW few of us discovered the Titan 7 TS-5 08X 04-11 Forged wheels fit our F22/23. Bit more $$, but great price for forged @ $500 each. Black or titanium would look great

I agree with 4Hockey4 on the gloss vs satin. FWIW i had matte black wheels on my E92 and the way it looked with the gloss black trim, tinted windows, front grill, etc i would have gotten gloss black if i could go back and do it again.

Here's my inspiration (top, gloss black) vs. my car (bottom, satin black)

I personally prefer satin wheels for this design.

However there are a lot of designs that will look better gloss, specifically some of the more angular, modern designs and all of the dual 5 spoke wheels.

How long will shiny black wheels look shiny when running the OEM pads – does anyone know?

Nice!

Did you use an aerosol can or an HVLP gun and compressor? Do you have to repair the paint after a tire change?

I used cans. Did multiple layers and the results is pretty good. Yes it will need respray if a tire needs to be changed. For the cost, i don't mind if I only do a summer or 2 with this.

Not GS but Silverstone. I personally love a tinted wheel on Silver cars. It's that happy medium that appeals to me. Here's my old e92 with some brushed titanium tinted HRE's. Love a tinted wheel!
