Need tips about storing my car

Hi Guys!

I'm a new M235i owner since Oct 16 and i've been enjoying everything about it, It is a great machine and it has now 1050km on the odo, however I'll be leving for a month and a half on december due to work reasons and it's the first time I will leave a car stored so long.

So, what tips do you have that I should take into consideration? I live in Colombia (so think about a florida like weather) and my car rests in a garage.

I have heard about filling the tank, placing cardboard underneath the tires so they dont dry. what else? car cover?

Thanks!!

For 6 weeks with the car in a garage, I don't think you have to do anything.

The most I would do is put a trickle charger on the battery.

I agree w/previous poster that six-wks is short. And either trickle or remove the battery if you don't have electrical access and - assuming mechanical key will lock doors...
One other thing, I might pump up the air in the tires to maximum tire psi listed on sidewall.
Full gas tank ?
Wash and wax paint and wheels ?
Some people have rodents in garages so something like moth-balls to deter.
If there are moisture or mildew deterrents for the interior, may give them a try.

Even this might be pushing it with our huge advanced battery. Especially in warm weather.

I left my GTI in -30C weather for 3 months straight twice a year with no battery charger and the first turnover was a bit rough but ran strong form there. Did that for 2 years.

Oily rags stuffed up tailpipe is a good trick for rats. Make sure you take them out before you turn the car back on though

Excellent idea on stuffing up the tail pipes from rodents of any kind.

THEN, be sure to put a note on steering wheel..."remove tailpipe materials". You just might forget you put those in there.

You might want to check out this article on the Corvette Action Center about long term / winter Corvette storage. The article pertains to Corvettes, but the information is relevant for all automobiles:
