Question on 1200 mile service

Has anyone had issues going in a bit short of 1200 and getting hassled for BMW paying for service? I've got an appointment Saturday and don't want to spend Friday night trying to put an additional 100 miles on the car for no practical reason.

Not to start another back and forth thread, but my dealer said no free service at 1200 miles. This appears to be up to the dealer. How did you get them to do it?

Two things, not sure which matters more. 1. They keep calling it an ///M so I firmly believe they think it's mandatory and 2. My father delivered all the service manager's kids and she's been a patient for 30 years so I have a feeling that, within reason, she'd do whatever I want. That said she did tell me before I mentioned it to do a proper break in and bring it in at 1200 so I don't think they're doing me a special favor but I honestly cannot tell you definitively one way or the other.

It definitely has to be more than 1200 miles if you want BMW to pay for it. The dealership has to submit the receipt to BMW for reimbursement and it's based on the odometer reading. It's a different story whether BMW will cover for M235i or not. If the dealer make you pay for it or they cover it as a goodwill, then it doesn't matter how many miles you've got on it.

As far as I know, there has only been one member of this forum, or any forums for that matter, who got it for free and even he wasn't sure whether the dealership did it as a favor or BMW actually paid for it.

I was just told the key read, whatever that means, will tell me if it's due and that's usually after 800 miles. I'm fairly certain I'm the first at this dealer so I'll report back. Will get it over 1200 just to be safe.

I got mine paid for. My advisor said I needed at least 1200 miles. I was told BMWNA paid for it.

But two months later another forum member was not able to get the service for free. Well BMW tells me I own a M2 so who knows?

Got it done, just an oil and filter change. If they make you pay it's $119.

If I was going to keep the car for more than 26 months I would probably get the early oil change, due to my OCD. But it would be a waste of time for me to go down and wait around for it to be done while only 3 months into my lease.

I get the sense that it was a first / last 1200 mile service my dealer will be performing. Left a case of beer in the trunk of the loaner for the guys.

Very expensive dealer. An oil change at my dealer is $80 plus tax with BMWCCA discount.

We never actually got to an official price quote or coupons. Guy said "I'm pretty sure it's $119 for your car but I need to check." So I thought that was a good number, guess not. In any event I was out $30 for a mixed Belgian case of beer

Did you contact them about the 1200-mile service? If they wouldn't cover it, I will probably end up paying for it myself since I have an upcoming long-distance road trip.

yeah this is what they said

"BMW N. America is not covering a 1200 mile oil service. Some dealerships in error performed the 1200 mile service and were told by BMWNA not to perform any as they are not part of the maintenance for the M235i.
