When the windshield on the wife's Mazda 3 needed replacement, I spec'd Pilkington glass. Safelite was good with that and charged $265 installed.

If I had an issue with the SISECAM L LAMEKS windshield that came on my M240i, and it needed replacement, I'd check to see if Pilkington or PPG makes a windshield that fits.

Both Pilkington (now part of Nippon Sheet Glass) and PGW (PPG became PGW overs 10 years ago) are OEM suppliers to BMW depending on manufacturing plant, our 2007 Z4M had a PPG windshield from the factory. I've also had PGW replacements on a couple of BMWs. No noticeable difference in hardness/scratch resistance to the Sisecam or Sekurit factory windshields I've also had.

The harder the laminated glass temper, the more easily the glass cracks and cracks spread faster, the softer the more it pits and scratches. Whichever way, there are tradeoffs.
