I was referring to the original poster who had a 328 with Tech and said he was able to have the L7 and EQ coded. Just wondering if that would only be the case then for those that only have Tech. Since I don't have Tech, I'm hoping it isn't.

Just got confirmation from BMW genius that the HK system on the M235 is a 12 optimized speaker system without EQ and i7. I have requested a refund for the option I paid $875 for. Don't get me wrong, it does sound good but nothing like the HK system you might be expecting.

Well I just emailed the BMW genius as well so I can have confirmation one way or the other, but if it's not the system they advertised, I'm not paying $875 for it. My car is already out of production and waiting for a ship at port. I'm hoping once I get some confirmation I can work with my sales adviser to resolve it.

Can someone summarize the 12 speakers then? I know there is a speaker in the middle of the dash (mid range), 2 subs under the seats, one in each door panel, 1 on each pillar and 2 on the back lid. That's 9, so obviously some of then are 2 or 3 way then? So perhaps it is indeed 16, but I certainly need to see a definitive list.

Would also suggest everyone go to the BMW us site an download a copy of the PDF file 2 series standard and optional equipment. It CLEARLY states 16 speakers and 600 watts for the HK system. I imagine that file might not be avaliable shortly.

Does anyone know the specs of the HK system in the 1-series. I'm wondering if it's the same as that?
Edit 2: I found this: http://www.bmw.harmankardon.com/en/v...cal-coupe.aspx Coupe: 300W, 10 speakers, L7 DSP. Last edited by Bahuba; 03-19-2014 at 04:18 PM.. |

I have downloaded this and if I don't have 16 I may make a mini fuss to BMW.

Center dash 2 speakers (tweeter & mid driver)
Doors 4 speakers (tweeter & mid driver) Under seats 2 speakers (woofers) Rear deck 4 speakers (tweeter & mid driver) Total 12 speakers and no EQ or L7 settings. The 16 speakers they advertise would be if the rear side panels had speakers as in the 4. BMW cust service advised me to tell anyone which is everyone who ordered the HK system to file a complaint directly to BMW USA cust service. Unless it doesn't bother you spending $875 for upgraded speakers!

I sent the following to customerrelations@bmwusa.com. I'll let you know if they ever respond.
============================ To whom it may concern, I have ordered a 2014 M235i, production number XXXXXXX, with the $875 optional HK premium sound system. This upgrade was advertised as a 16 speaker, 600W system. It has, however, come to my attention that this is not the case, that it is a 12 speaker and 360W system, and does not have the HK surround sound processing. As such, I am requesting a refund or rebate for the $875 of the system to be applied to the sale price of the car. Sincerely, Screenshot taken 3/19/2014: Inline image 1 |

+1 for sure. Emailed my dealer and plan to contact BMW directly as well. We should 100% get what we're paying for or a refund. Hell I'd even be happy w a credit to spend on performance parts or winter wheels or whatever. Would only cost them half as much that way.
