Without a pix of the actual damage, not sure exactly what you are referring to. That being said:
There are shops that specialize in rim repairs (some body shops do this work also). I'd do a local search and run your car by them. I've seen some pretty bad wheel damage repaired to where you'd never know there was a repair. |

My damn local dealer quoted $550 for just the rim, without mounting and without the **required** new valve stem. I found the same rim (boxed and new) at various online BMW dealers and aftermarket vendors for up to $192 less than my dealer had offered. I ended up buying the replacement rim from a nice BMW dealer in an adjacent state for just over $350, and also saved the sales tax. I paid just $30 for shipping. The valve stem was another $20 (versus $29 locally). I took the new rim and valve stem to my local BMW dealer for mounting ($45). I thought the price was fair, and had wanted a high-volume BMW-specific shop with an excellent mounting machine to do the tire/valve stem installation, in case of any issue. I unboxed and photographed the new unblemished rim with the service advisor present, to make sure that its perfect condition was on record. I also asked that my old scuffed rim be cleaned and boxed for me. In thanks, I handed the advisor $20 and thanked him for taking care of my car. He said he'd personally give my car, right away, to his best tire guy. An hour later, I was on my way home, considerably relieved that the traumatic ordeal was much simpler and less costly than I'd imagined.

actually, as was explained to me, the separate warranty would cover curb scratches to the rim

If I may beat a dead horse, this is yet another example of the value of tire and rim insurance. I just brought mine in last week for their annual maintenance, only a bit of rash on both passenger-side wheels, which happens occasionally with even the most careful parallel parking. The minor damage was $100 per wheel, billed to insurance. Once a year, that adds up to $1000 over the five years of the policy. Add in three or four tires and you have more than recouped your substantial investment.
My only regret is that the insurance doesn't last longer and I expect to keep this car as a daily driver for 10 years or more. I will have to be super careful once the policy runs out. |

Any rim repair shop can fix that for less than $200.

zentanker, i have tremendous respect for those who protect us and serve in the military. but you my friend must have post traumatic stress syndrome. your comments are obnoxious at best. telling me that i shouldn't hit a curb and don't know how to drive is like me telling you that you should be more careful not to step on a IED or get better military training. have a good life but you can keep your comments to yourself.

From everything I've read (by necessity) the past few weeks, I believe that's
accurate. I've detailed my tribulations in another thread, but suffice it to say with these low profile tires of ours it can happen to any of us. While I will probably wind up opting for a rim shop myself, there are other remedies for those so inclined along these lines: Additionally, I was wondering what people's experiences have been with rim guards / protectors such as those made by Rim Blades and Wheel Tech, among many others... |

Aside from being posted in the wrong section, can't really get too annoyed when someone is just ignorant from lack of experience.
That said most dealers have a wheel guy who comes in once a week to fix things just like this. I'd suggest starting there, then moving on to another wheel refurb place if too $$$.
