Will these fit a 228i Sport Line, or only M Sport?

Only M-sport. The sport line uses a different part number.

Yeah, its nowhere near as easy as ind lets on to be. I ended up just breaking one tab on both the top and bottom to get them out. Worse comes to worse ill buy a new set for a couple bucks if the broken ones dont hold on long enough for the dealer to accept it without noticing theyre broken when i return the car...it was such a pain in the butt to get them off, I am never going to trust the ind instructions to give me an indication of how easy something is to install ever again.

Interesting cause I've used the instructions from IND. They are pretty straight forward and never had any issues with them

Can confirm. My install instructions would read:

Step 1: Try and be delicate and follow the manufacturer's instructions for the first one; destroy hand and break clip anyways. [20-40 min]
Step 2: Insert new one. [5 sec]
Step 3: Bash 2nd one through with something. [5 min]
Step 4: Insert the new one. [5 sec]

The instructions may be straight forward in terms of what needs to be done, but it certainly is not a 5 minute job. As everyone has mentioned, taking the top part of the reflector is incredibly tough. I spent an hour yesterday trying to install mine (my m235i has the parking sensor), and finally gave up because it was getting too dark and cold and my fingers started hurting from trying to squeeze the top clips for so long.

Will have to try again later.

once you unclip the top clips is easier if you can put some trim removal tool (as it's soft and won't scratch) in between the grill and the bumper so that the clip doesn't go back in

just installed mine, it's definitely not as easy as it looks (to a newbie like me at least). I couldn't for the life of me squeeze the clip heads enough to push it through with just two fingers...ended up finding a small plier and squeezing that inside, then I could grip down on the clips with my whole hand and it came out a lot easier.

I had that huge thing blocking the bottom clip as others have mentioned, ended up having to semi-yank it out.

Did mine on the weekend, no issues. It's definitely not as easy as the iND instructions depict, but it was really not a problem. No tools needed. However, I must say, I did have my wheels off as I was adding spacers at the same time... So having that extra space to work in the wheel well made the job a lot easier for me. I simply reached in, pinched the top clip as hard as I could and pushed out firmly and did so while looking at the reflector from the outside of the fender. As I could see the reflector beginning to move slightly out of it's seat, I grasped it with my free hand and began to firmly pull... So one hand was pushing from inside the fender, while the other hand was pulling from outside the fender. You will see the reflector beginning to get further and further out of the seat until finally the top clip comes free... Once that's done, do a similar exercise for the bottom clip, although I couldn't pinch mine due to the parking sensor being in the way... Nevertheless, the process is basically the same - push from one side and pull from the other. It was literally not a problem at all... Took me a couple minutes per side.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

Is there any plan by IND to make the painted reflector for the 228i as well?

Here are two phone pics. In real life, they look great and as seamless as a separate piece can look.

I have a set for the 228i from IND...I couldn't tell any difference between any of the models, they all look the same.

Will know tonight for sure.

Andrew, the set you sent me is for my Sport Line 228i. Should I even try then?

It appears that the F22 kit will work on the Sport Line in the Front. I did not have a chance to pull mine off due to weather, but I held the IND unit up to the OEM and they appear identical!

The rear units will not fit...not even close. Weather permitting, I'll try to mount the fronts tomorrow.

The IND M-Sport/M235i front reflectors do not fit 228i SportLine, they may look the same when you're holding the IND ones up to the SportLine but they are different. I found that out after having fought to remove one and then the IND ones would not fit.

We only offer a solution for the M-sport front and rear bumper. There a slight variances in the core pieces that will impact fitment.

I have sent you a private message.
