m240i faster than OG M2 at the top end?

From this video below, it seems so.

I am asking because I am thinking of changing over to OG M2 mainly because of the sexy body and the exhaust note. I already have mperformance exhaustion m240i and it is my daily drive. Thus making M2c less appealing

B58 is extremely good at top end. I would stick with the B58 over an M2. M2C is a different story. You know, because S55 versus N55.

I guess if you care a lot about the acceleration above 110 mph. That would be about 145th on the list of important items to me but I don't hang out a lot in the triple digits. And when I am hanging out above 110 mph, I'm usually not racing a M240i.

Based on the dynos I've seen, both cars make the same power to the wheels and the B58 sustains its power a bit longer in the upper rpms. That explains its ability to accelerate a bit harder up top.

Keep in that the M2 isn't just about power. It handles and out performs the M235/240 on a track. If you want more power, a catted downpipe would likely be enough for the M2 to match and edge out the M240. There's always tuning too.

M235/M240 black and white numbers yeah it's "same" as M2 because it's 90% the same car. But that 10% the M2 has over them both is big. It's not just how fast all the time.

All out, the B58 will make significantly more power on the stock turbo. I'm working with Paul Johnson on a custom E40 tune with an upgraded Dorch HPFP and we're flirting with 490-500 WHP. The car is stupid quick and actually puts it down reasonably well with the M-Performance LSD.

That said, the OG M2 has a bit more street presence, it handles better, subjectively looks better and it's just a little more "special".

All about what you want. I love straight line power with a decent amount of cornering ability. I have Dinan springs/bump stops, 235/265 MP4S and I'm happy on the street. I'd never trade my M240i for an M2.

M2C is a different story, but the B58 (and N55) still sound better.
