Resonator deletes

Dinan makes a 2 resonator delete for the m240. At $500 it is not particularly expensive, except it is just a pipe.

Several people have talked about just having a muffler shop cut out the resonators. does anybody have pictures of how this was done, the diameters of the pipes involved?

I've swapped out axle back exhaust before, not difficult. Sitting at home while on quarantine I'm thinking of doing the resonator delete myself with clamps but it would be helpful to know the diameters and to confirm the pipes are round where I would cut them.

I could build a space shuttle with the right YouTube video, but I can't seem to find one for this.

Oem exhaust size is 80mm most common piping available at local shops etc will be 3" which should be able slide inside of the 80mm oem piping. 80mm comes out to 3 and 1/8". Had it done at a muffler shop and they charged me $80.

That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks.

I thought there were 2 resonators though.

Sorry just saw you have a 240. Picture is of a 235. Exhaust diameter is the same but not sure on if piping is circle or flattened on both resonators. For 235 it is perfect circle if you cut right at the ends of the resonator. My guess would be that both resonators on the 240 would be the same way.

I found this from an older post. One resonator is on a round pipe one is oval

Hey TonM3

I have a m240i and got both resonators deleted. The shop I went to made a single pipe that replaced both resonators.

That is cleaner. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just a heads up you posted this in the n55 forum, there's a b58 m240i specific forum this would better belong in
