and new reliability 235 vs 240 info???

The threads I found addressing this are getting a little old. So a year later any new info on the b58 longevity? any other issues with reliability cropping up with either?

None with my 2017 M240i (owned since Dec 2016). Of course mine is a low mileage car (a weekender). Although, sometimes lack of use can be more troublesome than using the car daily.

VANOS

Well we do know that VANOS Units have been an issue on most BMW's over that past 20yrs.

.
If and when the VANOS unit's have to be replaced on the B58 - well I think you would have to remove the engine to gain access as opposed to the N55 having the Valves on the front side of the engine & easy to swap.
.
.
Overall - the B58 is a GREAT engine if not he BEST Six on the market today & would trade my N55 for a B58 all day.

Coolant leak and disappearing coolant issues would be some of the items to watch out for.

I had to have a fuel line in the engine bay replaced on my 2017 with just under 50k miles. The dealer said it was swollen and leaking when under pressure. Luckily my CPO warranty covered it.

I picked mine up in Munich in September 2016 and have 41K of ~90% highway miles on it now. No issues beyond a noisy exhaust flap that was replaced under warranty.

As far as maintenance; nothing unexpected. Next summer at around 45K I'll replace plugs and trans and diff oils for the first time and maybe coolant; I did the brake/clutch fluid a few months ago. Brakes look like they are only half worn. I do oil and filter about every 7K.
