Manual transmission fluids

I'm looking to use Red Line products and I'm a bit confused. ECS Tuning and TCP Euro both recommend MTL 75w80. Red Line recommends DCTF Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid. I don't consider Amazon the expert, but they say neither will work. From searching on here, I've found a few different answers as well. Does anyone have a solid answer?

BMW service said use 90, but 85 is fine. 110 is overkill.

they both will work depending on if you have a Manual transmission or an auto trans. the MTL 75w80 is for a manual trans and has additives to protect the brass syncros while the DCTF is used in Automatic transmissions. If you are looking to change the diff fluid you can use redline 75w80 it safe for the spider gears/ LSD but is to slick to use in the MT and dose not have additives to protect the brass.

A simple search of redlines product site when entering in your car info will provide all recommended fluids that redline makes
That's what didn't make sense. Redline's site recommended the dctf for my manual transmission.

I've used their D4 ATF in my E46 & newer manual transmissions.

I also use D4. It was recommended to me by a close friend who owns a bmw race shop. They use d4 in all street cars and mtl in all race cars.

Interesting. Guess the Red Line DCTF makes a bit more sense now.

Feel free to call redline up if you want to clarify about the ATF verse MTL. I called them to ask questions about diff oil and found them very helpful.

Spoke with Dave at Redline, little difference between DT4 and DCTF. I'm running the Lt5 equivalent, since I'm under CPO still.

He'd lean DT4 in much colder situations.

Silly how much cheaper than BMW shop
