Coming home to BMW
After a 3 year break from BMWs with my Golf R, I am happy to be returning soon with the M240i xDrive Coupe I just ordered. I love estoril blue but had it on my previous bmw, a F30 335i, so wanted a change. I was dead set on sunset orange but I was just not really feeling it when I saw it in person. Decided to go with Mineral Gray with Coral Red/Aluminum hex Interior and Jet Black Wheels with non-rft summer rubber. Other options: Premium package, LED lights, HK sound, Black grilles, CF spoiler and mirrors, steel pedals, M perf exhaust with chrome tips, and rear diffuser. This forum as always was a great help in helping me decide on a car and configuration, can't wait for delivery.

Rather not get in to specifics but was able to get a little more than 10% off msrp on a 3 year lease before rebates.

Pity, the whole point of this sub is to share data to help each other. Especially now that GOLFRR can't post MF anymore. Identifying or personal info can be obsfucated.

I just did almost exactly the same thing, had a Golf R for almost three years and got myself a 2017 (but still new) BMW M 240I X-drive. Couldn't pass up the great deal on the 2017 and am loving every minute of it. I ended up with $11,200 in rebates plus I got free winter wheels and an M Sport exhaust installed at cost.

Finally picked up an M240i. Sharing my final deal here. Car was off the lot.
Alpine White. Black Sensatec. Aluminium Hex Gloss Trim. Wheel locks package. MSRP was $ 46,960. Dealer gave me 9% off, or $4,226. BMWFS $3,500(it matters where the dealer's zip is as I understand it) Loyalty Credit $750 Final Price before Tax, California DMV = $46,960 - $4,226 - $3,500 - $750 Final was: $38,483 Most dealers gave me between 5-7%, GOLFFRR was actually the lowest much props here, but the rebate was $1K less given the location(and a 4 hour drive). Thanks for everyone sharing too, gave me more context on what a good purchase price could be - and that made me comfortable with making the purchase.... which puts a smile on my face every time I drive this car |

Looks like for the month of Feb, the rebate is $4,000 which is $500 more than last month.

Ship finally arrived into port last night, 4 days behind schedule. Having some M-performance parts installed at port, anyone have a clue what a reasonable delivery date might be at this stage? Next week?

What are your thoughts going from the Golf R to the BMW? Performance and interior wise? I wish the M240i was a bit lighter. Kinda surprising a Golf with an all wheel drive system and 4 doors is lighter.

The Golf had a very nice interior for a VW, but its night and day compared to the BMW. The leather is softer and nicer, the steering wheel is chunkier and better leather quality. The Golf also had piano black and plastic trim everywhere, the aluminum on the BMW and more conservative use of gloss black trim pieces looks much nicer. I originally went to the Golf from my F30 trying to find the feel I loved from my E90, and passed on the M235i at the time as it felt too much like the car I was coming out of aesthetically. I'm happy to have had the golf but after 3 winters in NY I am not that sad to see it and its 19 inch wheels go.

All sounds fair to me. I do like that the steering, throttle, LSD, and other things are customizable on my GTI, it’s pretty nice for a cheap-ish car. I guess I just prefer the touchscreen interface of the VW as opposed to the iDrive knob (yes I know you can touch it too but it’s up high), though that’s something I could get used to. The steering wheel is indeed nice and supple on the BMW I test drove.
