M Performance Exhaust for 228i Vehicles

Hi,

I have installed a M Performance Exhaust on my 2014 BMW 228i M-Sport, since there is no actual M Performance Exhaust out yet for the 228i vehicles i took it on as a challenge, because i couldn't wait for BMW to release it. I have came up with a solution that has worked alot better then i was expecting. i have installed a F30 328I M Performance Exhaust on my 228i and it fits almost perfectly. Just some small modification had to be done to make it fit OEM. I have attached some pictures so you can see how it looks.

The part number I used was: 18302293771 F30 328I

I hope this helps out some people on here!

All I had to do was:

1st - Cut the exhaust tip length by 1inch
2nd - Cut the exhaust pipe from were is connects to the OEM exhaust so it lines up with the stock exhaust piping

Thanks,

Man, that sounds great and looks awesome. BMW really needs to make this a port-installed item ASAP!

Thanks for sharing and great work.

Does it burp between shifts or when you let off the gas during hard acceleration?

Amazing, it's sounds incredible

If you had a M Performance diffuser, do you think cutting the tips down would still be necessary?

Thank you for all the nice words.

I have test fitted the M Performance Diffuser on and the exhaust tips fit perfect at the length they are at now. There is still room to adjust them out more if I wanted too.

Bolt-on Installation?

Is that a bolt-on system or is welding required?

You say it has a valve that opens at full throttle?

Your car an auto or stick?

Thanks

I got it welded because I like it better welded.

One exhaust tip has the valve in it, it is all controlled from the Dynamic Control buttons.

My car is stick.

I hope this helps you out.

Thanks,

Out of curiosity...

What does it sound like when it's in comfort/wife mode?

Did the hangers need to be extended/altered? Or does it pop right into place?

I haven't made any yet, sorry. I will say it's true what they say. Videos don't do justice. But for the short amount of time I've had it this is how I think about it.

When you're outside or in a parking lot it sounds awesome. Really nice at low RPMs. Lot's of burbles and a throaty sound. When you're driving and you have the windows down or cracked it sound great. Not super loud but enough to get your attention and to hear over city street driving. (wind noise/other cars) When you're driving with the windows up. Well unfortunately (IMO) because this is where most of us do most of our driving, it's at it's quietest. But still discernible. It's all dependent on how hard you're pushing the car. The more throttle the louder it gets. WOT sounds great to me. Quite loud with a balanced low growl. The way the car should have came from the factory..... One important note. The exhaust system needs to warm up before it sounds it's loudest. Mostly important for windows up driving. It makes a difference. Once it's warm, that's when I know it was money well spent.

just to clarify, the exhaust valve is still functioning or did you disconnect it?

If you ever get a chance to record a video do post.

Thanks,

Roman

Still connected and functioning. In fact it changes how loud the exhaust is when you go from comfort to sport. Possibly even quieter in eco. Not sure.

Will do.
