How can I code Apple CarPlay in my 2017 X3?

Looking to install Apple CarPlay but don’t necessarily want to give BMW 300 bucks or Bimmertech 400 bucks to get it. Anyone have any other options? 2017 BMW X3

Hi I have a late model 2017 car and all i had to do was delete my phone then re install it and tick the use carplay option on the menu whilst synching the phone. Hope this helps.
