Hold both buttons, release when you see CONF on the screen.
Change config modes with the rightmost button
press rightmost button til you get to the SL option (default was SL.80)
tap the leftmost button to change the shiftlight, sl.45 would be 4500rpm
hold the rightmost button to save and exit.

details are at www.p3cars.com/bmw-install
and also this youtube video: (skip to 3 min for shift light)

Can someone from p3 confirm these "issues" with JB4 & this gauge? I purchased this to use in conjunction and don't want anything lagging... since the boost info is going to be hooked differently with these P3 gauges for those who have JB4, there are no issues or no other known issues, correct? Just to be clear...

Im seeing if anything super minor lag nothing really noticeable the issue is more about the values that the computer things are accurate which the JB4 is tricking it into thinking its doing so it won't do actual boost readings which is annoying.

That is it right? Did you hook up the boost signal to the jb4 yet?

Naa I took out the gauge. I'm selling it since I don't want to run extra lines for correct boost numbers and that's all I wanted this for. Since I have the perf steering wheel that shows me temp so boost is what I wanted this for. But like I said I'm trying to keep it simple and not run more wires so decided not to deal with it.

Wow.....really? The gauge is so much more than just aboost gauge.....egt, iac, throttle position, fault code reader, etc. The Turner Motorsport edition P3 also does 0-60, 0-100, 100-0 and 60-0.

I snagged a used one on here for $125. Overall, I like the gauge a lot. In response to you guys complaining about the OBDII cable, I found a little trick. Remove the one nut that holds on the lower plastic shield near the pedal assembly. You can then feed the serial cable up near where the female obdii connector is. The male connector then is facing the correct side and the cable is folded once and then goes up to the vent. It fits a lot better.

Just got one and i didn't know there is an additional Map-tap kit available if run JB4, but i assumed its a pretty straight forward install, just tapping 2 additional signals, one for dimmer and i for the MAP output. my question for the P3Cars guys here is that if I wanna keep my OBDII plug available for my other devices for track use, can you provide a pin-out diagram so i can cut the OBDII plug of the p3cars cable hardwire it? i assume there is only 4-5 wires, such as CAN-HI, CAN-LOW, Ground, IGN and maybe a 12Vconstant, right?

Know this was from a long time ago, and I hate people that bump old threads but...

I just installed a p3 in my M235 and the cable is really tight against the side kick panel. I dont see how feeding the cable differently would help.

Could you or someone who has this installed some pics? Do people just live /w the cable being basically folded at a 90 degree angle?

Mine is very tight too. Don't have any pics. Slightly worried about it, but if something happens, I'm just hoping P3 covers it, since it seems they all are like that.

I actually emailed P3 support. They have been very quick to respond. They actually have two cable options, the one we have and then one where the cable exits the connector facing the front of the car.

I am trying to get them to send me the other cable as I think it would work much better. We will see.

I had the same issue back with the cable when I got mine and created this thread.

I ended up not keeping it long enough to really let it worry me but an option is to use a little extender that flexed another way and connected that to the end of the cable inside the dash trim. Hope that makes sense.

I've seen these around and they look really sweet! I love the OEM style it has going on but I was wondering if it actually reads oil temp. I saw on a few ads that it does, but in videos that I watched on installation or reviews, no one seemed to talk about the oil temp. Also while I understand this is due to it's size, I find it slightly a shame that only one value can be viewed at a time.

Does P3 Cars ever intend to make a larger version that is similar to the older AWRON screen? I believe AWRON is out of the picture now because I can't find anything on them anymore.

I have messed with the Bimmerlink app and it has a dashboard screen where you can set up to 6 parameters to monitor on your phone.
