Intermittent Wipers

My intermittent wipers run too much. In a light mist they cycle every few seconds and in a slightly heavier mist they go continuous, even when dialed back. Is there a way to get them to chill?

I take it you are using the rain sensing function. I found that it takes some getting used to but once you do,they work pretty good. But they are not normal intermittent wipers.

Not sure what year you have. On my 2016 there is a button on the end of the stalk. When pressed a green light comes on. The "dial" adjusts the sensitivity of the rain sensing. I don't know if that was optional or not.

AFAIK, all 2-series have the rain-sensing function. There is no other intermittent setting and it must be activated by the stalk-end button. It does sometimes have a mind of its own. Just go with the flow.

^This. The dial on the stalk adjusts the sensitivity once you engage the auto wiper button.

Newer models don't have the button, the lever has three positions up from off - sensor, low, and hi.

I liked the button better, but whatever.

I have the button and light and the dial. These work as designed but the delay even on the slowest setting is too short. Is it possible to reduce the sensitivity of the sensor, maybe by partially obscuring it? Where is it and how does it work?

BTW my vehicle is listed on each post under my avatar.

IIRC there is a way to code the sensitivity of the wipers. I know it can be done for the headlight auto sensor, just can't remember for sure about the rain sensor.

This may be an urban myth, but when the issue of sensitivity has cropped-up before (too sensitive/not sensitive enough/inconsistent), some people have said that keeping the sensor area of the windscreen very clean had made a difference. The sensor area isn't cleaned by the wipers, so it can get dirty or just very smeared. I do keep the glass cleaner than I used to and the wipers do seem to auto-sense a bit better, but this could just be confirmation bias on my part.

This seems to work for me as well.
