F22 and a Golden Retriever inbound!

Hey guys,

Long long time no speak. Not posted in a good few years.

If _anyone_ knows who I am, then I still have my M240i and I still love it.

But I am also not fussy about what it looks, or to a degree, smells like. I'll get it valeted when I need to.

We have a golden retriever puppy landing in 8 weeks. Wife has a fiesta which will do the job of getting doggo around, but on occasion I'm going to need to do so as well.

I own my 240i outright and don't fancy going back on finance, and with the car market being what it is: Getting into an M340i estate is going to cost me £20k I don't have right now.

So we make do.

Which brings me to my real question.

Going to go with one of these hammock things for the rear seats, alongside a seatbelt harness.

Can anyone advise on one perhaps that's good for a coupe? A lot of the hammocks clip around the headrest, which is fine but in my case I'll need to unclip it, move seat forward, coax dog in and then clip it back up. I have no idea if there's a better solution out there, do you?

I am not changing the car, stop suggesting it. I'd rather have an M240i full of goldie hair (matches mine anyway tbf) than trade down to what sadly the budget in this mad market looks like would be about a 4 years older 5 series at best. Sigh.

They'll only be in my car on rare occasion, and the Fiesta may turn into something like a volvo estate soon enough.

ANY suggestions appreciated.

Ps, question tax: (they're 2 !!! days old right now )

Goldies are my favorite dogs.

Have you looked into the Golden Retriever rescue programs. So many dogs that had owners die or are unable to afford them needing homes. We have neighbors that get them (when they have one die) and the dogs are so appreciative to have a home. Something to consider. Every pet we have had has been a stray needing a home. They are usually the best pets as they have experienced hard times.

Just something to consider.

I purchased a full hammock off of Amazon and the only thing I can recommend is not getting one with a vent in the front. I use the hammock and a harness with a seatbelt to keep my dog from coming up front and it works well! The hammock clips around the headrests front and back and stays in place well

I also chose from Amazon where the choices are many. I wish I could remember/find tha name. We had one with loops that fit and can be tightened around the front and rear head restraint poles and small parts that look like plastic bag handles at the appropirate locations to stuff into the seat bite (where the back meets the cushion) to help hold the cover in place and prevent it from making too tight of a U-shape.

As to restraints, this is the only one I know to pass actual impact testing with dog dummies.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. I'm UK based (which I should have stated in this general forum), for what it's worth.

We can't get a rescue as we live in a flat. Arbitrary nonsense but those are the rules really ....
