Pilot Sport 4s 245 availability
Hey all,
I need 2 new rear Michelin PS4 at stock staggered 245/35. However, I can't find these available anywhere. Even Tire Rack says no ETA and not currently in production... Is anyone else seeing this or have any ideas for alternatives? How bad would it be to run 225's in the back, square setup? (Those are available.) Thanks! |

If you can't get them, something that might work is to run Pilot Super Sports in 245/35-18 in back. Tire Rack shows availability as of 11-26-2021 for that tire.
If you've got PS4S' in front, the people at the Rack can probably advise you regarding mixing the two compounds/tread patterns (assuming they're not required to advise against it in all circumstances). The reason I suggest considering the PSS is that its tread width in 245/35-18 is 0.8" wider than that of the PS4S in 245/35-18 (see below). That's a huge difference. I've assumed that the reason is that the PSS shown below is a Star BMW-spec tire, and the PS4S shown below is not. Best of luck with your search!

I was just watching 'Ride Like a Pro Jerry Palladino' motorcycle training videos. He was interviewing a Honda Motorcycle retail store owner and the owner was saying the next shortage is going to be rubber for tires.

Under these circumstances, I'm glad to have sets of PS4S, PSS, and A/S 3+, all with enough tread to last indefinitely as little as my car is driven.

I had previously tried the Michelin PS All Season 4s, but contrary to nearly every review I've seen, didn't like them and went back to the PS4S. so in this situation, will try out these continentals. |

I had the same issue after one of the rears got damaged. No PS4s in 245/35/18 to be found. I really wanted to keep the PS4s though and went with 245/40/18 instead which were available a few weeks ago.
I have been running the same 245/40 as winter tires (Michelin PA4s). Had no problems with those. They add a bit more comfort and the increase in aspect ratio helps driving on rough roads. The only downside with the 245/40 are slightly lower revs per mile which reduces thrust a bit.
