Widest Tires up Front on Dinan Springs

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about what the largest tire we could fit up front when lowered on dinan springs. I would like to be able to run a wider square setup than the 225s currently on the car.

I'm almost 99% certain you can't. I have dinan springs and the me lca + ts which should give me more clearance with the negative camber.

I have 2.04 mm clearance to the shock tower and still rub on the fenders which have been rolled/mildly pulled.

I'm running a 235/40 r18. Maybe you could get away with a 235/35 r18? Or 17 rims with a smaller rolling diameter than my rims.

I have been running 245/40 Dunlop Direzza IIstars on 8x17 et 42 wheels, first on the stock suspension and now with Dinan springs, bump stops, sway bars, and camber plates. No rubbing on the street, autocrossing, or on track. Today I mounted up a set of Apex Arc8s 8.5x17 et40 in front with 245/40 Bridgestone RE71Rs on the front and 9x17 et42 with 255/40 RE71Rs on the rear. Took a 5 mile drive just to make sure everything was OK. No rubbing on the road but won’t get a chance to try them in an Autocross for a couple of weeks.

It's been reported that 245/40/17 will clear and I hope so as I'm about to take delivery to install on all 4 corners.

I emailed Apex about the ARC 8 17's on my M240 and they said that wheel wouldn't clear the brakes. Are you driving an M240? Odd, but good to hear they do clear.

It depends, on many things...

The wheel, tire, suspension setup, camber, etc will all play into what will be a working option.

On stock ride height with no spacers on a 7.5 or 8.0 wheel, you can get away with a 245.40.18 up front with mpss. Slight rubbing with 235.40.18 on nt01 at full turn. Rear also fit these sizes with no issues.

With Dinan springs, camber at -2.0 all around, i have to go to a 35.18 sidewall rear or i rub with anything over a 225. Apex arc8 8.5/9.5 with 235.18.40 nt05s fit in the front, but rubbed horribly in the rear due to ride height.

I also have a hard time finding a matching set of tires that are extreme summer or rcomps in a 225.40.18/245.35.18 config. Ill prob just stay with my re71s in a 225 square with spacers. Any thoughts?

At -2 camber all around you should be able to fit 245/40-18 front and 255/35-18 rears on 18x8.5 and 18x9 wheels. I believe it is the 245 that is killing your tire selection. Going to 255 will open all sorts of doors.

If I was limiting myself to a square set up, I'd run 235s all around. Changing out the suspension components to give more inner clearance would be ideal but that's costly.

Stock front tire size is 225/40/18. I'd think 245/40/18 will be too tall for the front and will likely cause rubbing if you're lowered.

My wheel/tire spec: 235/40/18 on 8.5" +42 front @ -0.7º camber, 265/35/18 on 9.5" +45 @ -1.7º camber, lowered on H&R springs with no rubbing.

Verified fitments:

Set-up 1: -2.2 camber front, -1.8 camber rear, lowered around 0.5" to 0.75" (whatever Ohlins spec is)
Wheel/tire combos:
18x8.5 et40 245/40/18 Front
18x9 et50 255/35/18 rear

19x8 et 40 235/35/19 Front
19x9 et 50 255/30/19 Rear

Both of those are 100% clean fitments.

Set-up 2: -3.7 camber front, -2.2 camber rear, same height as set-up 1.
Wheel Tire combos:
Everything in set-up 1.

18x9.5 et 35 and 5mm spacer 265/35-18
18x9.5 et 58 and 8mm spacer 265/35-18

Needs fenders rolled and may rub inside a little if you are on the track and everything heats up a bunch. No inside rubbing when car isn't at track temps.

Is that your current set up? If it is, I'm a little jealous, although I can't imagine spending that kind of money on this car to only fit 265s, lol. That looks like a pretty decent setting for track duties, regardless.

BTW, OP and the post you quoted are about Dinan springs, not coilovers with camber mods. I only included my specs because it's similar.

Yep, 265s all the way around on track. I actually use the 245/40-18 front and 255/35-18 rear set up for everyday. Already had the coil overs and camber plates in so the only cost to go 265s was wheels and tires. It made a huge difference on the track!

Ok so im about to go with Apex ec7's 18x9.5 for the rear.
I'm pretty sure i want to highest offset ET58 unless someone can tell me why to get another et?

Im going to be running re71r's, whats the widest I can get away with on Dinan springs in the rear?
I have 10/12/15mm spacers available. 255x35x18, or try to fit the 265 35 18?

Since you have an assortment of spacers, get the 265s.

265/35-18 is a tight fit for me even with -3.5 camber front and -2.2 camber rear. You'll want an 8mm spacer for the rear. 10mm could work but it will be very tight.

What's a trans maintenance kit? Is this just the fluid flush stuff?

so after reading thru all the comments, looks like i will just be going with 235 in the front and 255 in the rear w/ VMR V710s, camber plates unfortunately cost too much to justify going for a larger square setup :/

Isn't it just the belly pan (filter, gasket, etc are all part of the pan) and fluids?

Installed the 245/40/17s on all 4 corners.
Car is lowered on Dinan springs.
Front is a tight fit but I went on a long test run on windy/bumpy roads and so far no rubbing.
Track day this Thursday will be the test.

Here is my how stupid can you be moment today:
I removed the stock wheels and spacers and installed the new wheels.
Went to test drive the car and it wouldn't move!
Realized that I had used the longer lug bolts that were necessary with my spacers and one of the bolts on each rear wheel bound on something and the wheels wouldn't roll.
Don't want to look to see what I fu*ked up.
