2019 M240i ordered!

My wife and I fell in love with this car when we drove it last year, so I put my 2015 Mustang GT up for sale and waited...and waited. Finally, the right buyer found the GT on Craigslist and I sold it a couple of weeks ago.

Went back to the local BMW dealer and test drove again, this time comparing to the M2 and a 2015 M3 (both stick shift, which was quite fun...wish the M240i had that option). Anyway, we both loved the M240i, even though stick isn't an option the ZF 8-speed is very good, and we put in our order. It started its build last week. We're looking forward to getting the car, and interacting with other enthusiasts on the forum.

The manual transmission is still available in the M240i according to the ordering and pricing guide online, or have I missed something? I recall reading it is no longer available in Germany though.....

Perhaps you are getting an xi?

We ordered the XDrive, so no manual available with that configuration for some reason.

Cool! Keep us posted on your status - I have an order in with my dealer, but they're waiting on a January allocation. I took my wife on one test drive. She is totally not a car person. She has a Forester that she loves (because it's "cute"), although I like it because it's incredible in the snow...

Back on topic. After the test drive, she kept talking about the incredible sound the M240 makes...even non-car people appreciate the straight 6!

The status changed yesterday from "At the port" to "In transit", meaning that it's left the port in Bremerhaven and is on a ship. Expected arrival at the port in Oxnard, CA is approximately 30 days. I'll update here when the status changes.

My wife is a car nut like me, so we made sure to test drive several different vehicles before we settled on the M240i. She's an Audi fan so it took some convincing to have her drive BMWs, but I think she's converted now. She didn't even want to drive the Audi RS3 because she likes the way the BMW drives and she thinks it looks better too.

That inline six sound from BMW is exhilarating! If your wife loves that sound, get her to go on a test drive in an X3 M40i in Sport Plus mode (for the exhaust crackles and pops); she just might want to trade in that Forester!

Picked up my 2019 MG M240i xDrive last Friday.
Wonderful car.
Coming from an 08 335xi, which was a blast, but was getting cranky and expensive.
Anyway, wife loves the car too. (she wanted a coupe this time, who am I to disagree)
It really is a great car for the non-enthusiast driver also. Although it's much lower than her little crossover, the relatively good visibility makes her feel in control. Can be driven conservatively and very comfortably. It's nice for both of us that a lot of the controls and layout carried over from the older 3 series. The familiarity encourages her to drive it.
I on the other hand might flog it after the break in period.

Interesting reading this. I put money down on mine 10/23/18 and the dealer tells me they have no information on it's process yet.
I'm wondering if there's something they're not telling me. Especially reading about dealer allocations.
Congratulations on your new one, hope it has a great boat ride !

^^^ I'm looking to order one as well; thinking of putting in my order around Feb '19.
Did any of you get a decent discount on an ordered car? I'm trying to establish a baseline so that I can feel good about my order/price...

TYIA/cheers,

B

This is the deal I got ordering one in Jan 2018

MSRP $55,424

Dealer Discount 5249

BMWFS incentive 3500

Loyalty incentive 750

Corporate Sales Incentive 500

Total 45425

I had to play a few dealers off each other to get that. And a lot depends on what incentives are going on at the time. The loyalty incentive was only available to folks that currently own a BMW and the corporate sales you have to see if your company is part of the program.

Getting a quote like that was admittedly a lot of work and I ended up buying from a dealer that was an hour drive away. Hindsight I think paying an extra $750 to get from a closer dealer might have been a better idea. Also, the dealer didn't have an allocation until March and I didn't get the car until late June. I'd recommend making sure the dealer has an actual allocation because for some reason they can be in short supply. If the can't give you a build ID in 24 hours, then they don't really have an allocation, I was to learn.

That's almost a 20% discount, which I think is very very good.

This month, it appears to be a $4500 credit. At least from my area, it appears to differ from region to region. That's the highest I've seen ... folks should jump on it.

MarkDemma That's pretty awesome, on the 2019 in the fine print it's calling out $3500 which isn't too bad - expires 1/31.

Have a few more questions on your purchase route if you don't mind. If you are more comfortable I can DM you too.

1. Mainly, I am wondering if I can build online with the specs, and then push for the discount. Like the one you had fat 10% of MSRP. or does that apply to only cars on the lot. I saw on lot cars in San Mateo and SF.

After that, when I go through financing, does that credit kick $3500 get deducted before the load or after the first payment.

So if the build price is $46k, I push for 10% = ~$41.3K
Then $3.5K and I am a current owner of loyalty kicks in, + $750
= 41.3 - 3.5 -.75 = $37.15

Many thanks.

You'll generally be able to get deeper discounts on existing dealer stock, particularly if you time it right (end of year or last model year closeouts), but I was able to get about 8.5% off MSRP on my recent M240i build order. This will all vary by model depending on allocations, how in-demand it is, etc, but the 240 shouldn't be too difficult to get.

Incentives, loyalty discounts all just come off adjusted MSRP. 50k car -10% = 45k - 3500 inc - 750 loyalty = 40,750. Add tax, DMV fees, etc and that's your financed amount.

Agreed that the $3,500~$4,500 is about the highest I've seen incentives like these, so definitely a good time to jump if they're available in your area. If you're buying off the lot, I think you have to close your deal by the end of the month. If you're ordering, you get to hold on to this month's incentives (or choose to replace with any in the intervening months) and apply once your order arrives.

Contact one of the forum sponsors GOLFFRR for a great deal from a socal dealer. Will give you an idea of a best-case price available. Then you can either shop around, or take a road trip down south

Newbe here, trying to understand what it means. $4500 APR credit is against the MSRP ? Let's just say the MSRP is $55,000 does that mean you get a credit of $4500 off ? What if you worked out a deal down to $51,000.

If the dealer has no information on it, then it's likely that the order hasn't been processed due to the lack of an allocation. Have you checked recently?

My car is still on its boat ride; left Bremerhaven on 12/17, stopped in Maine on its way to Panama and is leaving Panama this morning. Due to arrive in California on 1/16.

For those of you who aren't aware, you can get your car's cargo ship name and journey number from your sales associate and track it on a number of cargo ship trackers, such as fleetmon.com.
