I would like to start with the hope's of some help as I know from other forums pages can help!!
So here is my problem with the X1 the oil housing ( plastic ) on the car and put oil everywhere.( oil is in the cooling system) BMW not doing anything at all. Wants me to spend 5000.+ Or replace the motor, because there going to give any warranty on work on the motor!! The car has 97,000kms so 60,000miles. Didnt even tell the wife she need major repairs, I guess not when at 66,000 kms so 40,000 miles the car needed $9100. In repairs???? With that we had other child she got a van and I took the x1 ( was never a big fan of the car!!!) Now looking at about 20,k to replace the plastic crap that BMW thought was a great idea, dumb!!! ( putting in a new motor )Just don't get how one of world class vehicles builder car piss on consumers on a bad built vehicle. We paid 42,000 for it and yes we get hosed here in Canada. So all in all with money to date we could have almost two.... anybody having similar problems. Just need info to have a leg up with this.... tks

I believe there was a recall for the plastic oil filter housing. We had ours replaced to a metal one for free under warranty. I would suggest looking into that first. You might just need to replace the housing and flush the entire coolant system and change the oil.
