I like having one. You can have some sun when you want and crack it if it's hot to get some air flow. Or you can use it if you want to get some shade.
Extra weight if you are a track guy would be the only downside I can see.

I've had cars with them and without them. Personally not a fan; always found myself with it closed on the cars that did have it, so I didn't order it. I just prefer a dark cabin. No regrets. But then again, some ppl (such as my gf) cannot live without it. So it's all a personal choice.

two main reasons are weight of the car and whether or not a taller person can fit in the car with the moonroof fitted. I think some people also prefer the look of no moonroof, especially if they want to wrap the roof a contrasting color.

I enjoy having a moonroof for the reasons listed above. Another problem is I believe with the moonroof you have slightly less head room in the cabin with it all closed up, so if you are tall it might make a big difference for you

I gather its tough to fit a helmeted driver in the car if you are tracking it. Other than that, the weight shouldnt be an issue. If you like sunlight and fresh air get it.

Personally I just like the ability to get fresh air without all the wind blowing in from the windows open, especially on the highways and such. But that's just me.

When it's the only thing fully open it brings in just enough air I think. Some don't let any in which is a waste. Some way too much. I think it's just right. I use it 60% of the time.

I love the moonroof best option I ever chosen it's perfect for sunny day's if you don't want an cabriolet. It Makes the cabin feel fresh and clean and light. And if you want it a bit darker just close the shade protection. Performance wise i don't think it's much of a big impact.

Why did I delete? - I don't like moonroofs - I don't use moonroofs - The car has a cleaner and sportier appearance without a hole in the roof - More headroom - One less thing that could possibly break, rattle, crack or otherwise cause problems |

Creaks and rattles should be considered. Not all moonroofs do it but if yours does it's annoying. I opted for the moonroof because it adds comfort to me and I'm sure the performance hit is very small. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the option adds up to 100 lbs to the weight of the car. These things are usually more heavy that you would expect.

Moonroof
I disagree about the car looking cleaner without the moonroof. Side by side, I think the car with the moonroof looks much nicer. The cars without the moonroof look cheaper and less classy in my opinion.
I rarely have my moonroof open but always get one because I think the car is aesthetically superior with one. |

I would point out, though, that half the Civics and Hyundais out there have sunroofs. Compare how rare they are on Ferraris and Porsches. |

My last 5 cars all had moonroofs.
I went without moonroof since I almost never used them and it is $1k option on 228i. No surprisingly I have no regret and there is an added bonus that car can stay cooler during summer and AC does not to work as hard. |

I don't know... a) when you draw the shade (which is thick and opaque, unlike my MINI) you won't get that much heat in... and also b) I can open the moonroof on approaching the car and guess which direction hot air goes...

Yes, hot air rises. In SoFla I enjoy having one to first get rid of the hot, stale air and secondly to enjoy the sun as well as the cold on the few days we have it down here. Personal preference will dictate this option, as many others.

I think it depends where you will be driving the car. In southern California near the ocean, the temperature is usually perfect in town to have the windows down and sunroof open. On the highway below 72 degrees, just the sunroof is enough. I think it saves a lot of money on gas since the airconditioner is not deeded, the a/c also makes the air very dry. That same train of thought is why the air conditioner defaulting to on is annoying, but appapently fixed with a coding mod.
