How many miles did your n55 live before rebuild?

What is the average mileage of N55 on m235 before rebuild? Heard the engine runs at very high water and oil temperature, does it affect its mileage?

All of the newer engines run hot, including the M2/3/4 variants. It does not equate to needing a rebuild, though? These aren't engines I would be concerned of in terms of reliability and durability in any case, they're pretty stout and should have a great long life cycle.

oil change at 8000km instead of the bmw suggested 16000km you should have no issue there.

I've got 15,800 miles on mine and already had 5 oil changes. After PS2, I've shortened the interval to 3K miles and started using LiquiMoly oil.

M235 hasn't been out long enough for people to start doing engine rebuilds from mileage failure, let alone enough people doing them to get any sort of statistically relevant 'average'

There's plenty of high mileage n55's already. Considering the 235 has some forged internals and an oil cooler, it should be even better.

I'm at 78,600 miles on my stock N55 powertrain and it's holding up fine so far. I have an extended warranty out to 100k miles.

My M235i runs on 20psi with meth for 30000 km for no issue.

Just oil change every 6000km

The major fail of N55 beyond CP is always pump.

I'm curious why you ask?

If you aren't treating it like a race car, and do the maintenance, it should last a very long time.

Since I started running meth, I've noticed all of my exhaust is looking brand new, like whatever carbon residue was inside the tailpipes are gone! It looks like I spent a day cleaning/polishing the inside of the exhaust. Curious if this aids in any prevention from the long term carbon buildup seen on DI engines? I know the N55 solved a lot of that, along with oil blow by, etc, but I'm curious if there is any REAL benefit aside from the power gains?

That seems VERY excessive.

Overly excessive...

Why not change it with every refuel maybe?

m235i-ZF8-RWD owner here with 129k+ KM daily driver with 45c 4 months summer temperatures and 90% humidity in Saudi Arabia Jeddah. (hard driver at the first couple years, normal driver to occasionally hard the last couple years)
the issues i remember i ran to are:
+ wiper fluid motor failed.
+ battery replaced once.
+ front fender Paint job from small bumps.

below are annoying issues (with no damage) so far by the following but might be immanent to a problem coming:

+ weird squeek sound on the right front dash (almost sounds from the corner or door) only on slow speeds and uneven road, got it fixed 1st time by the dealer and went away by replacing few parts, 8months later same exact sound comes back slowly, got it fixed by dealer again with more parts replaced, issue fixed. 9 months later up to today (sound is coming back but at much slower pace; once or twice a day, sometimes once or twice a week) no more warranty to cover this, so i will figure it out later or just live with it.

+ supercharge whining sound when accelerating 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear, With AC OFF or ON, not sure if it is coming from alternator, gearbox, turbo or engine, but definitely not a normal noise, but can live with it if it keeps running.

+ Hard shifting and clunk at Sports+ mode if not revving hard, shifts perfectly on down shifts and higher revs.

+ 1st, 2nd gear at slow speeds, exiting garage, parking lots etc, is hesitant and is all over.

shifting issues maybe resolved if i plan to do transmission maintenance.

103,000 KM with bm3 stage 1 for 20,000 KM and Stage 2 for the last 2,000 KM.

No issues aside from the damn condensation in taillights.
