learn to do your own work.. those were fairly doable repairs amd youd have 1400 bucks in your pocket.

I've had to have the OFHG replaced at ~41K. It was weeping more than leaking, but it had to be done. About $1100 all in.

It's pretty much the problem with the N55. It's dissatisfying to have to put that much into a relatively young car, but it's still a fun car that is satisfying to drive for the most part.

My other car is a 2002 S2000 that I got in 2004, and it has never required unexpected repairs. Generally I think the Honda is a significantly higher quality vehicle.

Ouch, quite a bit just for a gasket to be replaced. Do you have any issues with the valve cover gaskets yet? Seems to be a recurring theme as well.

The only problem I had with my '15 is the BT stopped working... BMW did a quick update to newer software and no problems since.

I'm at 56000 miles

It didn't die. It's a common issue in 2s. It would just stop working 1-2 times per month, then you restart the car and it would work again

weird

well at 59k miles i just had to replace the oil filter housing gasket..
pretty typical for these cars. so far thats it *knock on wood*

still better than the n54 i had last where everything broke..

my electronic steering rack had oil all over it too..thank god that works cause its 4grand

the oil filter gasket dyiin at 58k miles is kinda lame though bmw
honestly makes a few things shitty. i know on the jointly designed b58
i wonder why no gaskets are used and gasket sealer instead.. prob because
with toyota involved a bit they pushed for it knowing bmw is
making crap that fails almost like clockwork after warranties expire..

i woulda done it myself but the cars on the rack already with the new race intercooler and charge pipes goin on now.

This is my first German car and I'm ok with the expensive routine maintenance, but to this point the required fixes have been quite unsatisfying.
58k miles oil filter gasket here too just today

im lookin for another beater daily to drive for work and
the heavy driving now is temporary. everything else is fine though.

My 2015 228i convertible xdrive has been fairly problem free at 66k miles. Couple things I've seen with it though: my choice in tires (not the cars fault lol). Blew 3 this year I'd opt for non run flats...potholes are killer for run flats. Something is up with my AC. On long trips like 5 hours my blower fails...you can feel the cold air but doesn't blow much out at max speed. Never have a problem in town so procrastinating to fix it. This happened on my 1996 528i a couple times (car still running at 300k miles.) so kinda used to it 🤷🏼*♀️.

the boards on the blower motor electronics are poorly made ..
i had to replace it on my 2008 n54 335i.. it was recalled but i remember the connector soldering area was burned. it almost burn my car.. then compared the new "revised" valeo part to the old. nice secret fix bmw made or valeo should i say.. shame on them.. thats why i keep the ac cold 60 degrees but never crank it up thus stressing the motor or creating heat..

Said it before I could.
I need to open my own shop, because I could buy all the necessary tools 10x over at those prices.

Mine has been mostly ok, 2014 at 53k miles.

3 months after buying it, the nav was resetting occasionally and they replaced the entire nav computer etc.

Other than that, oil filter housing was leaking, and the alternator belt snapped. But these were all warranty fixes. The only other thing that actually went bad was the valve on the exhaust was rattling, but using M2 exhaust now, and it has been welded open.

I have a 2016 228XI with M-Sport and the only issues I've had so far are lightbulb burnouts.
28K miles on it.
