So, I got a killer half-price deal I couldn't pass up for a brand new Mishimoto intake from a friend who ended up totaling his 328i and never got around to installing it. I know many say that aftermarket intakes hurt performance but on the N20, it seems to have given better throttle response and it seems to pull a little harder. Maybe a placebo? It's my wife's car so I really don't care if the performance improved or got worse quite honestly.
The build quality is excellent. All parts fit perfectly save for the rubber washer at the base of the MAF sensor. It will not fit into the piping so it has to be removed but it fits very snug so no issues. The intake has been on since Saturday with around 150 miles without incident. Looking on Mishimoto's website, it looks like this 328i intake part # is also good for the 228i N20/N26 models too. Just wanted to share if anyone was on the fence. Also, I am selling the K&N drop-in filter that was in her car for about one year and has <10,000 miles on it. I cleaned it with a Air Raid filter cleaner kit and it's like new. I can lightly oil it too before shipping it out if you want me too. Your call. $30 shipped continental US Sorry, don't know why pictures loaded out of sequence and I can't edit it? |

Nice setup. Hope it works out well for your wife's 228i.
Personally, I am not a huge fan of reusable air filters on turbo charged vehicles. They tend to not filter as well (independent testing, etc)...and that could lead to turbo failure. Anyway, the install looks good...and definitely looks better than the original setup from BMW. biz
