How to run lower PSI in tires without LOW TIRE!!!!!! WARNING!!!

Hello all,

I have a '21 M240 rwd manual. The car came with run flats, but I now run tires that aren't horrific (Michelin Alpin in the winter, PS4S in the summer)

I have been trying to play with alternative tire pressures but the car WILLNOT LET ME even run 35psi square, as it will immediately go into limp mode, lock out "sport" options and limit speed to 80.

I have bimmercode. Is there a way for the car to LET ME LIVE MY LIFE and actually run PSI that isn't 40+ !?!?!

That's interesting. The light only comes on for me at around 25 psi. I'm pretty sure the stock pressure is 32 psi in the front and 38 in the rear.

I also stick to a 35 on all four though. Seems to work really well on a 255 square setup.

I also run 35 all around with no issues. I recall seeing some people have coded out the TPMS so they don't need the pressure sensors and enabled the older system that uses the wheel speed sensors to detect a low tire. Probably somewhere in the Wheel and Tire subforum.

That is strange as i have had a low tire warning and the car never went into a "limp mode". 21 M240 Xdrive Auto.

I run 32 in front and 35 in rear.

Currently running a winter 235/40-18 square setup on an ‘18 m240ix and pressures are set to 35 psi all around. No issues, no limp mode.

Do you reset tpms every time you adjust tire pressures?

I was able to bump them to 36 psi, reset it and it did clear and stay off. I'll play with it more as the weather improves.

It was very frustrating, but everyone here, and from what I've read, it shouldn't have been an issue and I should be able to run lower pressures without an immediate warning. Could have been something with low temps? Not sure...

Thanks all!

Pretty sure if you set it at a particular pressure and then drop that pressure by more than a certain amount or percentage it will complain. I run the same pressure all the time (and keep it adjusted for temperature), so I only reset when I change wheels in spring and fall, but yeah if you want to experiment with different pressures you will probably have to reset more frequently.

The system default setting is to start complaining when any tire registers pressure below 30 psi.
If it is yelling at you at 35 psi, then I would guess that there is something wrong, especially if all the nannies turn on.
I have owned my 2015 since new. If the temperature drops suddenly, then the tire pressure drops, sometimes below 30 psi, and I get a warning, but I have never had the car actually do anything proactive.
Did this happen before or after the Superbowl? Was Taylor Swift anywhere in the area?

Just run the calibration and it should be ok - I run my tires around 30psi.
