Dashcam options for M240i

Wondering what options are available for dashcam usage for the M240i.
Mostly for accident recording and monitoring while parked. Please post your setup.

that looks like an impressive feature set.
how easy was it to integrate into the cabin, specifically the cabling that's required?

Check this out, it was on m2c but still similar. I personally use a BlackVue DR900X dual channel.

I’ve got a VIOFO A129 (front and rear cameras) and I power it from the OBD port. Was pretty easy to install and the video quality is decent.

Love my Garmin 55, has wifi so no need to remove a memory card to save footage, you can DL it right to the phone.

I noticed the external battery pack to prevent the vehicle main battery from draining..

how long does the battery last for this setup? there are times where I leave the car parked in a garage for extended periods (a week or more). Can you comment from your experience if this could be an issue?

Also: my dealer refused to install this, stating that they can only install OEM products.

I don't personally use a battery pack but I think that would be an issue. Easiest way is to just unplug the power to the camera if it's going to be parked for that long.

I, too, have the Blackvue. Terrific video quality, intuitive and effective software.

I got a pair of the Blackvue batteries but had the system connected to the vehicle's fuse box in a way that the Blackvue does not draw power when the car is turned off. I did not want to put any additional stress on the battery. I found that, pre-COVID, when I used the car at least a couple of times a day, the Blackvue recorded the entire period when the vehicle was parked. All that changed, of course, with COVID. I do not recall having measured it, but I would guess that the batteries run out of power after a day, if they make it that long.
