Here you go bud. You will need following parts: 01 Suction pump 1 11417846385 02 Drive Shaft 1 11417848466 05 Cover lid FOR RETURN LINE 1 11418335879 01 Oil pump 1 11418011851 02 Suction pipe 1 11417846384 01 Oil Pan 1 11137854463 You can buy used oil pan, suction pump and oil pump from an M3/M4. Also you need the N55 cover lid FOR RETURN LINE that you can order from the dealer. That part is used on M235iR race car. All of those listed parts are exactly the same as M235/40iR cup (n55), no modifications necessary. credits from: https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show...7&postcount=51 |

These engines aren't made to be at high rpms for consecutive time, most modern engines aren't, even n55s on the track have seized because of the same oil circulation issue. I mentioned my 435i seized as well, it was from doing donuts for less than 20 seconds, given short second breaks, it still didn't allow oil to reach everything, non LSD differential definitely doesn't help for doing donuts either. I'm swapping in a 50k m235i engine now but also adding S55 oil components, even still i don't see myself trying to do donuts anymore at least in this car, getting a throwaway older model E series and fixing it up is definitely the better idea for doing some donuts or playing around with it, some even come with a lsd spec. |

I've spun off probably 5 sets of tires on an open diff on dry pavement, some in one shot, without a problem. Note that this is in back lot sideshow kind of settings though, not anything resemblant of true controlled drifting that goes around a desired path. Spent plenty of time hooning around sideways in the snow too. However I've never had an oil measurement that read below max. Maybe I'm lucky.
The thing with the open diff is you have to be way more conscientious of your weight transfers and weight balance between sides to keep any slide going. LSD you can just mash it and correct with gas, open diff is much more steering input dependent. Transitions from side to side slides need to be really SNAPPED from full sideways to full sideways on each side with consistent heavy throttle and early full throttle to keep the spin, whereas LSD will just turn the slide over the other side much easier and be able to keep it going during much less intense transitions. You have to use a lot more of your power on an open diff, it's way less efficient sliding and in my experience will blow tires off way faster than an LSD because of the differences in tire rpms.
