My M2 exhaust journey....

here is my quest for better sounding exhaust set up on my m235i. more pics to follow. it's taken a good few months to get to this finished desired effect.

end result is the fabspeed sports cat, super sprint front and centre pipes, M2 stock back box with cyba tips.

this is with a custom made rear diffuser - m performance diffuser for the m235i and the stock m2 diffuser mated together and painted alpine white and gloss black.

costs:
fab speed cat - £1,000
front pipe £400
centre pipe £ 200
m2 back box £300
cyba tips £ 200
rear diffuser £700 (including painting)

fitting and welding £520 - this was not budgeted for in the original cost i had planned.

started stock obviously which actually isnt too bad.

at the end of the day I wanted quad tips and after seeing that the M2 exhaust would fit i decided to go with that. I thought about the M2 MPE, but wasn't going to spend that much money. however, after the work I had to get done to get the M2 stock back box to work , I might of well of gone straight for the MPE version.!!

the M2 stock box needed welding doing to get the pipe at the right angle to mate up with my super sprint centre pipe and the tips angled correctly so they weren't pointing down towards the ground. had I not gone for the super sprint centre pipe and mated the M2 exhaust including the centre pipe to the stock front pipe I think it would have mated up fine with no welding or adjustment required.

pictures here show with the cyba tips and cut stock diffuser. I added pictures of the cut stock diffuser so you can see where it needs to be cut if going this way yourself.

pics of the front and centre pipes.
the super sprint pipes are a full 80mm diameter with smoother bends and no resonator.

you can see the stock pipes are flatter more oval than round.

I had the front and centre pipes changed out first and put with the stock back box. even this made a nice and subtle change. the pops and bangs were more pronounced, but didn't really give an increase in sound or tone. you had to drive in sport with the valve open to hear the difference. in comfort with the valve in auto wasn't that notice able. ( my test is to see if my wife comments, with this she didn't. so couldn't have been too drastic a change)

Congrats on your new sound!

Super Sprint front and middle pipe for 600 euro is ridiculous. Should have just used your stock pipe with Dinan resonator delete pipe, so catback cost would be 300+300+200=800, a lot cheaper than 3k of M2 MPE.

You need dp and diffuser either way.

Cold start video from inside the car with windows open.

Takes approx full minute for the cold start, then settles down.

Shot using my galaxy s8, so sound is a bit less than in real life.

great build, and unique.

I would only suggest to get the tips behind the diffuser more. They look to be sticking out too far.

Also, your diffuser isn't in all the way. Push from underneath the diffuser and up to get that top seated properly.

Sounds like you went through a lot of trouble to get it where it is. To be frank, I'm not sure if the M2 diffuser flows with the lines of the M235i diffuser, but kudos for the custom work.

with the DP and JB box I just ran a 4.70secs 50 mph to 90 mph.

according to my awron gauge.

is that quick or not.

0-60 mph was 5.80 secs but didnt try to nail the launch. more interested in the mid range times.
