2015 M235 - Catless DP, BMS Intake (adding JB4)
Hey folks...
Figured I'd post this up. I've been working on modding car over the past few months and so far so good. I've installed Shiftek DP, BMS intake and I'm now adding a JB4. Bought the JB4 off a 435i owner and its new with USB so I'm excited. I had a JB4 on my E92 335 and took it off as the car starting running funky and I was having fuel pump and injector issues - so I've been really hesitant to pull the trigger on my M235 (but said screw it one night). I've spent the past two days on N54tech doing some heavy reading and I feel like there's much more to tuning than I currently know...definitely overwhelmed. My question is easy. I don't plan on doing any other mods besides my BMS Intake, Catless DP and the JB4 that's going in. Any fellow members run this exact setup that can give some feedback regarding performance, advice and map settings?? |

You can go deeper but it will require a better understanding of tuning.

You should be able to get away with map 2 with a catless DP. Run map 1 and post a log on n54 and see if they suggest trying map 2.
I also suggest upgrading to the OBDII JB4 version if the one you got is the older version. More features... |

I'm running Map 1 paired with an ER DP on my 2016 M235i. I've been very satisfied with the results. No issues with anything other than killing some brain cells with the exhaust fumes from the catless DP.
The JB4 on map 1 is safe and relatively seamless. Paired with the DP it really transforms the car. Unchains a lot of power. I have not had the chance to run Map 2 yet. Mostly because I don't have much access to 93+ octane here on the west coast, which is suggested for Map 2. |

The tune is for an M235i so it's EWG. I thought OBDII was the actual plug...is it a software feature? How exactly would one go about upgrading it? |

pimp4cheddar go to N54tech.com/forums and get the latest firmware for your M235 EWG, which right now is on the first thread/post of F-series N55 and its hex7

Map 2 is deceptively fast, proceed with a little more caution. If you don't ever want to do a log, stick with map 1.
As for obd, it's basically a module that links the obd CAN with the jb4. It will allow for in dash map switching, boost gauge, among other features. Do not skip it because you won't be able to update without it.

If you have the older non-OBDII you can upgrade it to OBDII by purchasing the OBDII harness/upgrade from the JB4 site. I was in the same boat as you a few months ago regarding JB4 and learning about it. I'm still learning too. Read, read, and read on N54tech and google! I also highly recommend the Bluetooth phone app for the Jb4. Much more convinent than using the laptop/USB combo. Though probably not needed if you're just going to be using map 1/2. Ask questions here too. |

Start with Map 1, within a week you will have the bite to move up to Map 2, then soon you will want to try Map 5 with some E85 mix.
I am planning to get a FMIC in the next couple of months to complete my performance mods. I'd strongly recommend upgrading your charge pipe as soon as possible. It's only a matter of time before the stock one gives up |
