+1

My testing was done via 1/4 mile runs and not "feel". My butt dyno can't tell the difference between an 11.6 run and an 11.8, so I don't trust it for incremental gains. I tried a multitude of methods (ie. arrive at track with BMS intake and switch to stock, arrive at track with stock intake and switch to BMS, etc.) and I never saw a gain with the BMS intake. It definitely increases turbo noises though. Trust me, I wish it worked. I didn't like having to admit to myself I spent $200 on a noise maker...

Our factory intake doesn't contain the normal sound baffles and other restrictions typical from the OEM's.

We used to have this discussion when I had an
03 evo. You might gain a few hp but you'll lose a few lb/tq. Less resistance on the front end. 5 hp, never gonna notice.

Lookup m2 airbox. And try to replicate. It only takes a bit of time and costs nothing.

Is it the same as the lower airbox portion of F3x N55 MPPK on the M2?

Update. I went with the Injen Air Intake. After about a one hour install on Sunday, I can definitely hear and feel the difference. I don't think the WHP difference is a big but the sound is worth it. Thanks again for everyone's input here.

Yes - M2 lower a/box and N55 MPPK lower airbox have same extra hole.

I had MPPK lower a/box but sold it on as I went for AFE DAS c/w re-installing OE closed lower a/box. By comparison, the scoop means colder air entering to create more positive pressure on the outboard side of air filter. More air is shipped across hi flow drop in into turbo inlet compressor.

Having tried both, butt dyno didn't detect any difference but throttle response is improved.

Went with the Injen as well. Easy install. Am really happy with the extra noise and turbo sounds. I know from past installs most CAI are only good for noise anyway. Only issue was a CEL for a dirty MAF sensor which was an easy fix.

happyanim:I have the Dinan CF CAI. got it at a discount from bmw dealer for 20% off. I love, makes the engine bay look a bit nicer and sounds pretty good as well. I would definitely recommend. Installation is very easy as long as you have all your tools. The pic is basically how mine looks like

Which dealership gave you the 20% off on your Dinan CAI?

Agreed. Get as much cold air into the airbox as possible and you'll be good to go!

So the CEL was only due to a dirty sensor? How did you clean it?

Yea and I knew exactly what it was when the CEL came on, I shouldn't have pulled it out so early in the installation process. I had the same issue when I did an intake on my old Boxster. All you need to clean it is some CNC MAF cleaner (got from Autozone for $8). Just spray it and plug it back in, problem solved!
