Thanks for all the replies guys. Much appreciated.
For those with the DP, did you run a tune? I plan on holding off for a while b/c of warranty. If not tuned, does the car behave weirdly at all? |

The car will respond exactly like stock with a increase in throttle response and boost hits a lot harder!

What advantage does the fabspeed catted downpipe have over the Wagner and ER which are also very popular? Does it have better power gains or sound better? Can anyone chime in here?

Go with BM3 for the tune. You can revert back to full stock including the stock flash counter.

Protuningfreaks told me today there is no advantage to running bootmod3 stage 1 with a downpipe. Can anyone comment on this? They do NOT recommend running stage 2 without FMIC

Reason they told you that is the Stage 1 tune will not have the parameters to leverage the higher flowing DP. You'll make more noise, and a few hp more in power, but the real difference comes from the tune associated to the downpipe upgrade (Stage 2 and beyond).

You could always try it and revert back if you're running into temperature issues. If you'd rather not chance it you can ask for a custom tune.

Couple that with your 91 octane and potentially hotter climate, you will be riding the knock sensors and have an otherwise lower knock ceiling. It's best to run the appropriate map not only from a performance aspect but consistency as well as safety of the engine. Although these cars are pretty smart, sometimes more boost and timing will result in a slower feeling car, especially as it heat soaks. With FMIC's like VRSF 5" Street HD at the price point they are at, it's a no brainer should you want to upgrade, they are great value. |
