Anyone replace the BMW roundel hood ornament?

I own a 2017 M240i and the front BMW roundel hood ornament is damaged. I bought the replacement part (see below), but it's partially held on with adhesive. I'm now reluctant to replace it because I'm afraid the existing adhesive might pull off paint. Anyone with experience with this?

you just need to heat it up with a hairdryer and use dental floss

Yep second on the dental floss. Pull tight and saw through. will come right off.
